Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday tabled the FY 2025-26 Budget worth ₹1 lakh crore in the Assembly, the first budget of a BJP-led government in the national capital in 26 years.

Calling it a "historic budget," Gupta announced a 31.5% increase from the previous year’s allocation of ₹76,000 crore, which was later revised to ₹77,000 crore by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

"This time, a historic budget of ₹1 lakh crore is being tabled, which is 31.5% more than the last budget. This is an unprecedented and historic budget," Gupta said while presenting the Budget in the Delhi Assembly.

The budget, according to the Delhi CM, focuses on ten key areas, including infrastructure development, electricity, roads, and water supply.

The chief minister, who also holds the finance portfolio, asserted that the "days of corruption and inefficiency" in the city’s governance have ended.

Gupta announced that capital expenditure has been doubled in the Budget to ₹28,000 crore.

She proposed ₹5,100 crore to provide ₹2,500 per month to eligible women, a major promise of the BJP in the Delhi assembly elections.

An allocation of ₹1,000 crore has been earmarked to enhance connectivity in Delhi-NCR.

The government has also allocated ₹2,144 crore for the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

Gupta revealed plans for a new industrial policy and the formation of a "Traders' Welfare Board." She also announced that a "Global Investment Summit" will be held biennially to attract investors.

Gupta, accompanied by her Cabinet colleagues, visited the Prachin Hanuman temple in Connaught Place before presenting the budget. “Bajrang Bali will do the best for Delhi. Delhi will develop, and Ram Rajya will come,” she said.
