The government has invited applications for the top job at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) as it looks to use the search-cum-selection committee route for the second time this year to find the head of a state-owned oil firm.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has invited applications from engineers, chartered accountants and cost accountants with postgraduate management degrees from leading institutions and having at least five years experience in leadership roles by September 14, according to an advertisement posted on its website.

"Selection shall be through a search-cum-selection committee," it said.

A city-bound Vistara flight from Delhi made a priority landing here on Wednesday due to a "minor" technical issue, the airline said.

The aircraft landed safely and is currently undergoing inspection, it added.

"Shortly before landing, a minor technical snag was detected on Vistara flight UK 995 that was operating from Delhi to Mumbai on 14 August 2024," a Vistara spokesperson said in a statement.

Google Mobile Business Vice President Nanda Ramachandran, speaking on the sidelines of the Made By Google event here, described India as a "fantastic growing market", asserting that the premium smartphone segment in the country is poised to outpace many of Google's other major markets.

Rupee rose 7 paise to 83.90 against the US dollar in early trade. On Tuesday, the currency had settled flat at 83.97 against the US dollar, as weak domestic markets and a surge in crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiments.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday said the ceiling amount payable out of its Investor Protection Fund Trust has been increased to Rs 35 lakh.

This limit will be applicable for claims received against the trading members, who have been declared defaulter or have been expelled.
