Amazon India joins hands with Startup India, DPIIT to empower startups through e-comm
Amazon India has partnered with Startup India, under the aegis of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), to help startups scale growth through e-commerce.
Through a dedicated page on the Startup India portal, the e-commerce firm and Startup India will work together to allow eligible startups to make use of e-commerce opportunities by registering on Amazon India's marketplace.
The startups will gain access to the domestic market, mentorship from Amazon leaders, go-to-market support and logistics guidance, according to a company statement.

Azim Premji Foundation to support CMC Vellore with ₹500 crore grant
Christian Medical College Vellore on Wednesday said it plans to set up a new medical college and a teaching hospital at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, for which the Azim Premji Foundation will support it with a ₹500 crore grant.
As part of the agreement, the Foundation will extend a ₹500 crore grant to CMC Vellore to set up the medical college and upgrade the existing 120-bed hospital into a teaching hospital with 422 beds, it said.
The grant will also enable CMC Vellore to extend the "distinctive elements" of its MBBS education and focus on the discipline of Primary-cum-Secondary Health Care (PSHC) to address the widening disparities in the Indian healthcare sector, it said in a release.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday said the confidence in inflation cooling down in the near future, resulting in a better balance between growth and price rise, led the central bank to change the policy stance to neutral.
He, however, made it clear that there are "significant risks" to inflation like the ones arising out of geopolitical tensions, and it is "not appropriate" to talk about a rate cut for now.

Cabinet okays fortified rice supply under welfare schemes till Dec 2028 at ₹17,082 crore cost
The government on Wednesday decided to continue the supply of free fortified rice under the food law and other welfare schemes till 2028 with an outlay of ₹17,082 crore, a move aimed at reducing anaemia and micro-nutrient deficiency.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Govt plans new PLI scheme for drones sector
The government plans to come out with a new Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the drones sector that will be more effective in terms of implementation, documentation and other aspects.
Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam on Wednesday said the government is looking at moving to the next PLI scheme for the drones sector.
The first PLI scheme for drones, introduced in 2021 with an outlay of ₹120 crore for three financial years starting from 2021-22, has ended.
