What is value investing? Value investing is a broad investment strategy which includes buying stocks that are trading at a price lower than their intrinsic value. Through this strategy, investors try to take advantage of market inefficiencies. For instance, markets sometimes overreact to short-term bad news, providing an opportunity to value investors to buy a stock with strong fundamentals at a discounted price and benefit from it in the long run. |
Investment objective
The scheme aims to invest in companies that are trading at a discount to their intrinsic value and have the potential to do well over the long run because of their strong fundamentals. The fund manager will examine various financial parameters and use suitable valuation techniques to identify undervalued companies.
These undervalued stocks, which will be from the S&P BSE 500 basket, will also have a reasonable margin of safety. This will help in reducing the downside risk of the fund.
Also, the portfolio will be well-diversified and market-cap agnostic. The weightage to stocks in the portfolio will be decided based on various factors including risks and re-rating (expectation of higher earning in the future) triggers.
Hence, this fund is suitable for investors with a long-term horizon of at least three years and are looking for better risk-adjusted return.
