At 3:30 pm, the NIFTY50 index closed 0.05% or 10 points higher at 23,416.55 points after the trading session on Thursday, compared to 23,405.60 points at the previous market close, according to NSE data.

Meanwhile, the SENSEX index closed 0.02% or 13 points at 74,360 points after the stock market session on June 4, compared to 74,356.17 points at the previous market close, the BSE data showed.

The benchmark indices witnessed a highly volatile trading session on Thursday, before ending flat with the NIFTY50 index trading between the range of 23,247-23,465, as per the exchange data.

The investors have pinned their hopes on any signs of a potential agreement between the United States and Iran in the near term, as the market expects a deal by next week.

However, due to the recent reports of attacks on Iran, the elevated oil prices were also adding pressure to the indices amid the continued foreign investors' outflows, which weighed down the stocks.

The Reserve Bank of India is all set to announce its key monetary policy committee (MPC) outcome at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 5, 2026. The market expects that the RBI will keep the benchmark interest rates unchanged.
