Top gainers and losers on July 7: HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Infosys gain 3%; Trent down 13%, among top movers

Stock market today: The benchmark stock indices, NIFTY50 and SENSEX, snapped their four-day consecutive winning streak on Tuesday, July 7, as investors focused on profit booking in the second half of the trading session, dragged down by heavyweight stocks.

At 3:30 pm, the NIFTY50 index closed 0.13% or 31.65 points lower at 24,398.70 points after Tuesday’s trading session, compared to 24,430.35 points at the previous stock market close, according to the exchange data.

Meanwhile, the BSE SENSEX index ended 0.13% or 104.35 points lower at 78,180.72 points after the trading session on July 7, compared to 78,285.07 points at the previous stock market close.

During the majority of the trading session, the indices were trading on a positive note; however, the indices witnessed profit booking in the last few hours due to heightened volatility on the backdrop of weekly NIFTY futures and option contract expiry.

NIFTY50 top gainers & losers today

Stocks like HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, SBI Life Insurance, Titan, Eternal, TCS, and HDFC Life Insurance were among the top gainers on the NIFTY50 index as of Tuesday’s stock market close.

HCL Tech gained 3%, Tech Mahindra gained 3%, Infosys gained 3%, SBI Life Insurance gained 2.6%, Titan gained 2.3%, Eternal gained 2%, TCS gained 1.8%, and HDFC Life Insurance gained 1.5% as of the closing bell on July 7.

Other NIFTY50 stocks like Trent, Adani Enterprises, Bharat Electronics, Adani Ports, Max Healthcare, Tata Motors PV, Cipla, and Hindalco were among the top laggards after the trading session on Tuesday.

Trent lost 13%, Adani Enterprises lost 3%, Bharat Electronics lost 2%, Adani Ports lost 1.8%, Max Healthcare lost 1.5%, Tata Motors PV lost 1.4%, Cipla lost 1.4%, and Hindalco lost 1.35% on July 7.

Out of the 50 companies listed on the benchmark NIFTY50 index, 19 stocks ended in the green zone, while the remaining 31 stocks declined to end in the red zone, according to the exchange data.

Midcap & smallcap stocks today

Info Edge India up 13%, Swiggy up 7%, Jubilant Foodworks up 4%, Havells India up 3.6%, Persistent Systems up 3.6%, Mphasis up 3%, and Coforge up 2% were among the top gainers on the benchmark Midcap 100 index on July 7.

While other stocks like Kalyan Jewellers lost 6.5%, Cochin Shipyard lost 5%, Biocon down 4.3%, Laurus Labs down 3.6%, BSE down 3.2%, Groww down 3.2%, and KEI lost 3% on Tuesday’s trading session.

Small-cap stocks like Physicswallah up 8%, Natco Pharma up 5.4%, Urban Company up 3.7%, Gland Pharma up 3.6%, Tata Chemicals up 2.7%, Nuvama up 2.3%, Sagility up 2.2%, and Tata Tech up 2% were among the gainers.

Other stocks like HSCL down 6%, Data Patterns down 4.7%, Brigade down 3.8%, Netweb down 3.7%, Wockhardt down 3%, JBMA down 3%, and HBL Engine down 3% were among the top laggards on Tuesday’s market.
