Top gainers and losers today: The NIFTY50 and BSE SENSEX indices ended at near flat levels on Thursday, May 7, as index heavyweights on either side of the positive and negative spectrum kept the gains muted throughout the trading session amid mixed global cues and investor caution.

The NIFTY50 index closed 0.02% lower at 24,326.65 points after Thursday’s trading session, compared to 24,330.95 points at the previous market close, according to NSE data.

Along with the Nifty, the BSE SENSEX index also closed 0.15% or 114 points lower at 77,844.52 points after Thursday’s trading session, compared to 77,958.52 points at the previous market close.

NSE data showed that out of the 50 constituents on the NIFTY50 benchmark index, exactly half or 25 stocks closed in the red zone, while one ended flat and others closed with gains after Thursday’s trading session.

NIFTY50 top gainers & losers

Stocks like HDFC Life Insurance, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra, Grasim Industries, and NTPC were among the top gainers after Thursday’s trading session. While others, such as Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Titan, Tech Mahindra, and ITC, were among the top losers.

HDFC Life closed 3.5% higher, Bajaj Auto was up 2.6%, M&M was up 1.9%, Grasim Industries was up 1.3%, and NTPC was up 1.28% after Thursday’s stock market session on NSE.

Among the top five losers, HUL was down 1.9%, TCS was down 1.33%, Titan was down 1.16%, Tech Mahindra was down 1.14%, and ITC was down 1%, as per the exchange data.

Midcap stocks today

The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed 1.1% higher at 62,003.15 points after Thursday’s stock market session, compared to 61,326.70 points at the previous market close, according to NSE data.

One97 Communications (Paytm) was up 7.7%, Polycab India was up 7.3%, Bharat Forge was up 6.5%, BHEL was up 5.3%, and Bharat Dynamics up 5.1%, were among the top gainers on the index.

Other stocks, such as KPIT Technologies down 3.2%, Bluestar down 3.1%, Coromandel International down 2.6%, NHPC down 2.4%, and Lenskart down 2.16% were among the top losers.

Smallcap stocks today

The Nifty Smallcap 100 closed 0.87% higher at 18,695.65 points after the stock market session on May 7, compared to 18,534.10 points at the previous market close, according to NSE data.

Piramal Pharma up 11%, BEML up 6%, IFCI up 4.8%, Nuvama Asset Management up 4.3%, and Karur Vysya Bank up 2.7% were among the top gainers on the index.

While others like Wockhardt down 4.9%, Brigade Enterprises down 4.8%, FSL down 3%, HSCL down 2.9%, and Dr Lal Path Labs down 2.5% were among the top laggards.
