At 3:30 pm, the benchmark NIFTY50 index closed 1.24% higher at 24,330.95 points after Wednesday’s session, compared to 24,032.80 points at the previous market close, according to NSE data.

The BSE SENSEX closed 1.22% higher at 77,958.52 points on May 6, compared to 77,017.79 points at the previous market close, as per the exchange data.

NIFTY50 top gainers & losers

Among the 50 constituents in the benchmark NIFTY50 index, a total of 35 stocks ended in the positive territory, with 15 stocks closing in the red zone, according to NSE data.

Stocks such as InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo), Tata Motors PV, Shriram Finance, Trent, and Asian Paints were among the top gainers on the stock market session on Wednesday, May 6.

IndiGo shares closed 6.7% higher, Tata Motors PV closed 5.3% higher, Shriram Finance closed 4.4% higher, Trent closed 3.98% higher, and Asian Paints closed 3.91%.

Other stocks like State Bank of India (3.69%), Bajaj Auto (3.4%), Axis Bank (3.25%), Adani Enterprises (3.19%), HDFC Bank (3%), Eternal (2.9%), and Dr Reddy’s (2.8% were among the ones to close with gains.

Among the 15 losers on Wednesday’s trading session, the top laggards for the day were ONGC, Reliance Industries, Power Grid Corp., NTPC, and Larsen & Toubro.

ONGC shares closed 3.1% lower, Reliance Industries lost 1.7%, Power Grid Corp. down 1.4%, NTPC lost 1.1%, and Larsen & Toubro lost 1.03% at the closing price levels on May 6.

Midcap gainers & losers

The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed 1.76% higher at 61,326.70 points after Wednesday’s trading session, compared to 60,264.50 points at the previous market close, according to NSE data.

Coforge, SRF, Yes Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) were among the top gainers on the midcap index on Wednesday.

Coforge shares closed 9.5% higher, SRF shares were up 8%, Yes Bank shares closed 7.7%, M&M Fin Serv closed 6.9%, and HPCL shares closed 6.7% higher.

Other stocks like Oil India down 5.3%, Billionbrains Garage Ventures down 4.7%, KPI Technologies lost 3%, Exide dropped 2.5%, and Power India lost 2.4% were among the top losers on May 6.

Smallcap gainers & losers today

The Nifty Smallcap 100 index closed 1.93% higher at 18,534.10 points after the trading session on Wednesday, compared to 18,182.40 points at the previous stock market close, according to NSE data.

Stocks like Firstsource Solutions were up 12%, Wockhardt up 9.3%, HBL Engineering up 7%, Anant Raj was up 7%, and Force Motors was up 6.7% were among the top gainers at Wednesday’s closing bell.

Other stocks on the smallcap index, such as Ather Energy lost 4.2%, Meesho lost 3.3%, Credit Access Grameen lost 2.7%, Afcons lost 2.3%, and GMDC down 1.8% were among the top laggards on May 6.
