At 1:45 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX was up 439.1 points, or 0.59%, at the 74,998.34 level, while the NSE's NIFTY50 was trading at the 23,521.80 level, rising 142.25 points, or 0.61%.

Buzzing stocks on May 13: Check list

Tata Power

Shares of Tata Power Company declined as much as 6.6% to hit a week’s low of ₹390.80 apiece on Tuesday, May 3, as its fourth-quarter earnings failed to impress the streets.

The Tata group firm posted a 4.5% year-on-year (YoY) fall in its consolidated net profit (attributable to the owners of the company) to ₹996 crore in the March quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q4 FY26), compared to ₹1,043 crore in the year-ago period.

Its revenue from operations dropped 12.8% YoY to ₹14,900 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹17,096 crore in the fourth quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year (Q4 FY25). The bottom line was impacted by the temporary suspension of operations of the Mundra Power Plant from July 3, 2025, due to pending overhauling activities aimed at resolving technical issues.

Mtar Technologies

Mtar Technologies shares rallied 13% to hit a 52-week high of ₹6,969 apiece as the firm gave strong guidance for financial year 2027. For the current fiscal year, the defence company now expects revenue to grow by 80% as opposed to their earlier projection of 50%.

The company now expects the FY27 closing order book to be ₹5,000 crore from the ₹2,582 crore at present.

For Q4 FY26, MTAR Tech reported a 222.6% YoY surge in net profit at ₹44.2 crore, compared with ₹13.7 crore in the same period last year. The revenue for the reporting quarter grew 67.2% YoY to ₹306 crore from ₹183 crore a year ago.

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea (Vi) shares surged 8% to hit their 52-week high of ₹12.84 apiece on Wednesday after the telecom firm said its board of directors will meet this week to consider fundraising.

The company, in a statement, said that its board will consider and evaluate a proposal to raise funds through the issuance of equity shares and/or warrants on a preferential basis, subject to necessary approvals, including that of the company’s shareholders.

Further along the fundraising plans, the board of directors will also consider approval of the standalone and consolidated audited financial results of Vodafone Idea for the quarter and the financial year ending March 31, 2026.

HPCL

Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) surged 4% to touch an intraday high of ₹385.60 apiece on Wednesday as the firm posted a 77.58% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its consolidated profit after tax to ₹6,065.26 crore in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2025-26.

The company had reported a net profit of ₹3,415.44 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Total income rose 4.41% to ₹12,431.33 crore during the fourth quarter of last fiscal from ₹11,905.50 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding year, according to a regulatory filing on Wednesday.

The firm's consolidated income from the sale of products, including excise duty, surged 4.45% to ₹12,316.40 crore in the reporting quarter from ₹11,791.59 crore in Q4 FY25. EBITDA advanced 271.59% to ₹8,681 crore in the quarter under review, compared to ₹2,336 crore a year back, while the EBITDA margin stood at 7.05% vs 1.98% YoY.

Berger Paints

Shares of paint maker Berger Paints India Ltd skyrocketed a day after the company posted the financial results for the quarter ended March 2026. The stock rose as much as 9.27% to ₹533.35 per share on NSE.

Berger Paints India posted a 27.75% rise in consolidated profit after tax to ₹334.77 crore for the March quarter of FY26 due to an improvement in product mix and softening of raw material prices. The company had reported a profit of ₹262.05 crore a year back, according to a regulatory filing.

Revenue from operations climbed 6.06% to ₹2,868.03 crore in Q4 FY26, compared to ₹2,704.03 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The company's board also recommended a dividend of ₹4 per share of the face value of ₹1 each, fully paid up for FY26, subject to approval of the shareholders at the ensuing annual general meeting.

L&T

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) shares rose 2.4% to touch an intraday high of ₹3,949.50 apiece as the infrastructure major’s arm bagged a large order on Wednesday.

“The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business vertical of L&T has secured a batch of EPC orders from prestigious clients in the Middle East for setting up extra-high voltage substations,” the company said in a regulatory filing.

The order, worth between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore, pertains to constructing one 380 kV substation and two 132 kV substations. These high-capacity substations will ensure availability of reliable power to large load centres and decongest grids, thereby enabling them to meet the growing demands.

Bharti Airtel

The telecom major’s shares were trading higher on Wednesday, with the stock rising 2% to touch an intraday high of ₹1,792.70 apiece ahead of its March quarter earnings.

According to experts, Bharti Airtel is expected to report strong quarterly earnings, with double-digit growth in revenue and net profit.

Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel’s Q4 consolidated revenue may increase between 15% and 17% YoY in a range of ₹55,200 to ₹56,100 crore, aided by robust subscriber additions, better subscriber mix, rising 5G data consumption and growth in African business. However, profitability could take a hit as net profit is expected to decline by 30% to 32% YoY to range between ₹7,490 and ₹7,530 crore.

Experts believe Airtel ARPU could remain flat in the range of ₹256 to ₹259, impacted by fewer days during the March quarter. During the Q4 results, investors and traders will look forward to key monitorables like Airtel’s market share gain, growth in African business, ARPU growth and new subscriber addition. 

Cipla

Cipla shares soared 5% to an intraday high of ₹1,353.80 as the company posted its March quarter earnings on Wednesday. The drugmaker posted a 54.60% YoY decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹554.64 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2026.

In the corresponding quarter of the preceding fiscal year, it had logged a profit of ₹1,221.84 crore in the year-ago period, according to a regulatory filing.

During the quarter and year ended 31st March 2026, the group recorded an impairment of ₹42.02 crore in the financial results in respect of associates, on account of a change in certain business conditions and market dynamics, Cipla said.

Its revenue from operations dropped 2.8% YoY to ₹6,541.2 crore during the quarter under review, compared to ₹6,729.69 crore in the January-March quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year (Q4 FY25).
