Top gainers and losers, September 22: Tata Consumer Products falls 2%, Coal India jumps 3%, Eternal up 2%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in negative territory on Tuesday, September 22, amid FII outflow and a surge in global crude oil prices. The indices were also weighed down by a sell-off in information technology (IT) and cement stocks.

On Monday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹576.20 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased equities worth ₹2,797.27 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.

The SENSEX fell as much as 0.58% to touch an intraday low of 74,423.71. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 declined as much as 0.55% to reach the session’s low of 23,285.75.

On September 22, the 30-share BSE SENSEX dropped by 329.91 points or 0.44% to close at 74,529.08, while the 50-share NIFTY ended lower by 85.30 points or 0.36% at 23,329.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

Tata Consumer Products weighed down the NIFTY50 index, closing 1.65% lower.

It was followed by Nestle India (-1.52%), Bajaj Finserv (-1.43%), Bajaj Finance (-1.22%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (-1.20%) were among the other top losers of the day.

On the other hand, the top gainers included Coal India (3.21%), Eternal (1.82%), InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) (1.80%), Titan Company (1.10%), and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (1.06%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY midcap gauge, the Midcap 100, ended 0.08% or 49.95 points higher at 61,963.15 on September 22.

Container Corporation of India (-4.12%), Voltas (-3.62%), Tata Communications (-2.64%), Blue Star (-2.56%) and Oil India Ltd (OIL) (-2.37%) were among the top laggards.

On the flip side, the top winners were Swiggy (4.16%), PI Industries (3.80%), Page Industries (3.34%), Vodafone Idea (3.11%) and BSE Ltd (2.34%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 closed at 19,815.45, marking a 46.50-point or 0.23% decline.

It was weighed down by Kaynes Technology India (-5.34%), Aegis Logistics (-4.78%), Ather Energy (-3.09%), Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd (ABREL) (-3.08%), and PG Electroplast (-3.05%), which were among the top losers.

On the contrary, the top gainers included Meesho (9.79%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (5.45%), RBL Bank (5.17%), Redington (4.83%), and Tenneco Clean Air India (3.30%).

Shares of Meesho soared after UBS raised the e-commerce platform’s net merchandise value (NMV) and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) estimates for the period spanning the 2029 to 2031 financial years. READ MORE.

In a note, analysts at Switzerland-based global investment major UBS Group raised the company’s NMV estimates by 7-18%, while noting a similar increase in contribution profit estimates and a 20-40% increase in EBITDA for FY29-31.

The analysts said that the higher NMV forecasts reflect continued flywheel from sellers and buyers, coupled with rapid expansion in its stock-keeping units (SKUs) and logistics partners.
