Top gainers and losers on July 10: Jio Fin up 4%, HDFC Life up 3%; Dr Reddy’s down 1% were among top movers

Jio Financial Services, HDFC Life Insurance, and Dr Reddy's were among the other top movers on the indices as of the trading close on Friday, July 10, as investors focused on sectoral buying amid the first leg of Q1 result season.

Stock market today: The equity benchmark indices, NIFTY50 and SENSEX, closed in the positive territory for the second consecutive trading session on Friday, July 10, with investors supporting heavy buying in IT, PSU banking, among other sectors.

The NIFTY50 closed 1.02% or 244.10 points higher at 24,206.90 points after Friday’s trading session, compared to 23,962.80 points at the previous stock market close, according to NSE data.

While the BSE SENSEX index ended 1.08% or 827.57 points higher at 77,569.39 points after the trading session on July 10, compared to 76,741.82 points at the previous stock market close, as per the exchange data.

Key focus of the investors were also on the performance of technology stocks in the Asian markets, while the oil prices slipped marginally in the global market. Investors were also keeping a track of the Q1 earnings season, along with the escalations between the United States and Iran.

NIFTY50 top gainers & losers today

Stocks like Jio Financial Services, HDFC Life Insurance, Adani Enterprises, Reliance Industries, SBI Life Insurance, Axis Bank, Bharat Electronics, and Tech Mahindra, were among the top gainers on the NIFTY50 index as of the stock market close on Friday.

Jio Financial Services gained 4%, HDFC Life Insurance gained 3%, Adani Enterprises gained 2.4%, Reliance Industries gained 2.3%, SBI Life Insurance gained 2.2%, Axis Bank gained 2%, Bharat Electronics gained 2%, and Tech Mahindra closed 2% higher on July 10.

While other stocks like Dr Reddy’s, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, Nestle India, Sun Pharma, were among others laggards on the benchmark index as of the market close on Friday, July 9.

Dr Reddy’s lost 1.2%, Eternal lost 0.8%, Bharti Airtel lost 0.6%, Nestle India lost 0.4%, and Sun Pharma lost 0.3%, according to the exchange data.

Out of the 50 stocks listed on the NIFTY50 index, 42 stocks ended in the green zone, while 7 stocks closed in the red, with one stock unchanged after the final trading session of the week.

Midcap & Smallcap stocks today

Midcap stocks like Indian Bank up 10%, Kalyan Jewellers up 8.3%, One97 Communications up 6.2%, Godrej Properties up 5%, OFSS up 4.6%, Bank of India up 4.5%, and Persistent Systems up 4.2% were among the top gainers on the Nifty Midcap 100 index.

While others like Page Industries lost 3%, Swiggy lost 2.8%, Aurobindo Pharma lost 1.1%, Marico lost 0.8%, Tata Communications lost 0.7%, ICICI Prudential AMC lost 0.6%, and Colgate Palmolive India lost 0.5% as of the stock market close on July 10.

On the small-cap front, stocks like Zensar Technologies up 13.5%, Mangalore Refinery up 8%, Brigade Enterprises up 7.7%, Firstsource Solutions up 6.8%, CDSL up 6.3%, Signature Global up 5.7%, and Bandhan Bank up 4.8% were among the top gainers on Nifty Smallcap 100 index.

While other stocks like Physicswallah lost 2.8%, Urban Company lost 2.7%, Kaynes Technology India lost 2.6%, Aegis Logistics lost 1.8%, Deepak Fertilizers lost 1.4%, and Credit Access lost 1.1% were among the top laggards on the index.
