LTI Mindtree shares gained the most among NIFTY stocks. LTI Mindtree shares closed 6.31% higher at ₹6,114.6 apiece on the NSE. Among other NIFTY constituents, Wipro, Divis Labs and Bharti Airtel were the major gainers. Maruti and Asian Paints emerged as the top draggers among NIFTY stocks.

Benchmark indices closed flat on Wednesday, August 28, as NIFTY settled above the 25,000 level. The key index closed flat at 25,052.35, up by 34.16 points, or 0.14%, extending gains for the ninth straight session. The benchmark index scaled an intraday high of 25,129.6.

BSE SENSEX gained 73.8 points, or 0.09%, to settle at 81,785.56. The index touched a high of 82,039.26 in intraday trade.

Among the sectoral indices NIFTY IT and NIFTY Healthcare Index were the top gainers as they closed higher by 1.64% and 1.14%, respectively. On the other hand, sectoral indices such as NIFTY Media and NIFTY PSU Bank closed in the red.

Out of the 50 NIFTY constituents, 29 closed in the negative territory dragged by Maruti Suzuki, Asian Paints and Adani Enterprises.

LTI Mindtree and Wipro lead NIFTY gainers

LTI Mindtree stock surged the most among NIFTY shares. The stock settled 6.31% higher at ₹6,114.6 apiece. The IT stock rallied over 7% to touch an intraday high of ₹6198.9 apiece on the NSE. The stock also emerged as the biggest gainer on the NIFTY IT index.
Wipro Ltd shares gained over 4% to hit an intraday high of ₹538.1 apiece. The stock settled 3.71% higher at ₹536.35 apiece on the NSE. The stock also emerged as the second biggest gainer on the NIFTY IT Index.
Shares of Divis Laboratories gained nearly 4% to hit a high of ₹5,096 apiece on the NSE. The stock closed higher by 2.71% at ₹5,035.2 apiece.
Telecom major, Bharti Airtel shares surged nearly 3% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,564.5 apiece. The stock closed 2.05% higher at ₹1,554 apiece on the NSE.
Shares of Infosys jumped over 2% to trade at an intraday high of ₹1,951 apiece before closing at ₹1,938, up by 1.99%.

Among other NIFTY constituents, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma and Bajaj Auto closed higher by up to 1.87% on August 28.

Maruti and Asian Paints among top losers

Automotive giant Maruti Suzuki shares declined the most among NIFTY stocks. Shares of Maruti Suzuki dipped over 1% to hit a low of ₹12,330 apiece. The company’s stock closed at the intraday low of ₹12,330 apiece, down 1.34%.
Asian Paints stock declined nearly over 1% to hit an intraday low of ₹3118.8 per share. The stock closed lower by 1.33% at ₹3,124 apiece.
Shares of Adani Enterprises closed lower by 1.27% at ₹3,028 and Shriram Finance dropped 1.17% to ₹3,191.75 apiece. FMCG major Britannia Industries shares also closed 1.13% lower at ₹5,699 apiece.

Among other NIFTY draggers, Nestle India, Tata Consumer and State Bank of India dropped up to 1%.
