RVNL share price drops 4% after Q4 net profit, margin growth weighs down investor sentiment

RVNL share price: Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) shares dropped 4% after the opening bell on Tuesday, May 26, as the State-run Navratna company’s March quarter net profits and margin growth weighed down the sentiment of the stock market investors.

Shares of RVNL dropped 4% to ₹261.05 during Tuesday’s trading session, compared to ₹272.45 at the previous market close, according to NSE data. The company released its Q4 results after the market operating hours on May 25.

The trading volume in RVNL shares was also dragging down the stock, reaching nearly 10 million shares traded across both exchanges as per the early market session, as the company underperformed in its Q4 financial results for the year ended 2025-26.

Why are RVNL shares falling today?

RVNL shares were trading lower on Tuesday’s market session after the company posted a 58.92% year-on-year drop in its consolidated net profit to ₹187.07 crore in the fourth quarter, compared to ₹455.42 crore in the same period a year ago.

Although the company’s net profits declined YoY, RVNL’s revenue from core operations advanced 4.18% to ₹6,695.91 crore in the March quarter of the year ended 2025-26, from ₹6,427.11 crore in the same period a year ago.

At the operational level, the earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) declined 38.42% to ₹269 crore in the fourth quarter, compared with ₹436 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

The sentiment was further weighed down as RVNL’s EBITDA margin contracted to 4.01% in the fourth quarter, compared to 6.79% in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Along with its financial statements, the company also disclosed that it is closing a joint venture (JV) in Kyrgyzstan, named Kyrgyzindustry-RVNL CJSC, subject to the approval of the members in the upcoming meeting.

Overall, the company’s order book inflow remained healthy in the month of May 2026, with several orders received from Indian Railways for multiple construction contracts.

RVNL share price trend

RVNL shares have delivered more than 783% returns on their investment in the last five years, and over 128% gains in the last three-year period, according to NSE data.

The exchange data also showed that the company’s stock has lost 35% in the last one year, and over 26% so far in 2026, on a year-to-date (YTD) basis. RVNL shares have dropped 12% in the past one month, and were trading 2.5% lower in the last five market sessions.

Shares of RVNL surged to its 52-week high of ₹442.80 on June 9, 2025, while the 52-week low was at ₹248 on March 30, 2026. The Navratna company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at ₹55,482 crore as of Tuesday’s trading session.
