SUMMARY

Trent shares gained the most among NIFTY constituents. The Tata Group stock closed at ₹8,231 apiece, up 2.52%, on the NSE. Hindalco, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies emerged as the other major gainers. On the other hand, TCS and Mahindra & Mahindra were the top drags among NIFTY stocks.

Top Gainers and Losers: TCS, M&M, ICICI Bank emerge lead drags as NIFTY end below 25,000

Benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY closed in the red on Friday, October 11, amid concerns over global tensions and foreign outflows.

NIFTY50 closed at 24,964 points, down by 34 points, or 0.14%, and the BSE SENSEX closed at 81,381, down by 230 points, or 0.28%. Earlier today, the NIFTY50 and the SENSEX fell to intraday lows of 24,920 points and 81,304 points, respectively.

Among sectoral indices, NIFTY Pharma and NIFTY Metals closed higher by 1.1% and 0.92%, respectively. On the other hand, NIFTY Realty and NIFTY Bank closed lower by 0.68%.

Out of the total 50 NIFTY constituents, 22 closed in the red, dragged by TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra and ICICI Bank shares.

Trent and Hindalco emerge as top NIFTY gainers

Trent shares gained the most among benchmark NIFTY constituents. The Tata Group company’s shares closed at ₹8,231 apiece, up by 2.52%. The stock surged over 3% to hit an intraday high at ₹8,308.8 apiece on the NSE.
Hindalco Industries shares traded higher by more than 2% to hit an intraday high of ₹749.95 apiece. The stock settled 2.27% higher at ₹746.7 apiece on the NSE.
Shares of IT-services major, HCL Technologies gained over 2% to hit an intraday-high of ₹1,852.8 apiece on the NSE. The stock closed with 1.73% gains at ₹1,839.95 apiece.
Tech Mahindra gained nearly 2% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,650 apiece. The IT stock closed 1.56% higher at ₹1,645 apiece on the NSE.
Shares of state-owned ONGC gained over 1% to trade at an intraday high of ₹293.65 apiece. The stock closed at ₹292.65 apiece, up 1.35%, on the NSE.

Among other NIFTY constituents, JSW Steel, Hindustan Unilever and Coal India shares closed higher by up to 1.2% on October 11.

TCS and M&M among the top losers

TCS stock declined the most among NIFTY constituents. The stock dipped over 2% to hit a low of ₹4,112.45 apiece. The company’s stock closed at ₹4,146 apiece, down by 1.93%. The stock was also the biggest loser among NIFTY IT Index constituents.
Shares of Mahindra and Mahindra declined more than 2% to hit an intraday low of ₹3,121 per share. The stock closed lower by 1.8% at ₹3,136.8 apiece on the NSE.
Shares of private sector lender ICICI Bank closed lower by 1.62% at ₹1,223.3 apiece. Shares of Cipla closed at ₹1,594.3 apiece down by 1.52%. Adani Enterprises also closed in the red at ₹3129.95 apiece, down 1.39%.

Power Grid Corporation, Maruti Suzuki India and Axis Bank shares also settled in the negative territory, declining up to 1.2%.
