SUMMARY
On September 4, the SENSEX closed 362.57 points, or 0.48%, higher at 76,515.43, while the NIFTY50 gained 24.25 points, or 0.10%, to end at 23,897.70.

The SENSEX rallied as much as 0.96% to hit an intraday high of 76,883.14. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 soared as much as 0.71% to touch the session’s peak of 24,005.75.
On September 4, the SENSEX closed 362.57 points, or 0.48%, higher at 76,515.43, while the NIFTY50 gained 24.25 points, or 0.10%, to end at 23,897.70.
The NIFTY50 pack was led by buying in the shares of SBI Life Insurance Company, which closed 3.50% higher.
It was followed by Tata Steel (2.49%), HDFC Life Insurance Company (2.42%), Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) (1.50%) and Trent (1.33%), which were among the other top gainers.
On the contrary, the other top losers included HCL Technologies (-1.94%), Bharti Airtel (-1.55%), Maruti Suzuki (-1.22%), Bajaj Finserv (-1.11%) and Max Healthcare Institute (-1.02%).
NSE’s midcap index, the NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge, closed at 63,079.05, reflecting a 156.15-point or 0.25% decline.
The top laggards included KEI Industries (-8.95%), Polycab India (-5.79%), Havells India (-3.83%), SRF (-2.67%), and MphasiS (-1.98%).
On the other hand, APL Apollo Tubes (4.20%), Vodafone Idea (3.73%), MCX (3.32%), Tata Communications (3.25%), and BSE (3.14%) were among the top winners.
Shares of MCX and BSE rose amid a surge in capital market stocks as SEBI plans to review the settlement price methodology for derivative contracts after the closing auction session (CAS) rollout.
NSE’s smallcap index, NIFTY Smallcap 100, ended at the 20,095.45 level during market close, up 44.70 points or 0.22%.
The index was supported by Wockhardt (7.51%), Affle 3i (7.03%), IFCI (6.53%), Pine Labs (6.40%), and Indraprastha Gas (5.95%), which were among the top gainers.
On the other hand, Ather Energy (-3.35%), Brigade Enterprises (-2.71%), Tata Chemicals (-2.60%), Welspun Corp (-2.56%), and Five-Star Business Finance (-2.45%) were among the top losers.
Shares of Tata Chemicals declined following news reports that Kenya’s President William Ruto said on Thursday he had ordered Tata Chemicals to stop its operations in Kenya. Ruto said Tata Chemicals’ presence had failed to benefit the country.
The Kenyan president, as per the reports, said the government would bring in two new companies to take over operations for Tata Chemicals.
