The positive business updates resulted in support of the sentiments of the index heavyweights, which lifted the overall performance of the indices on Monday’s market.
At 3:30 pm, the NIFTY50 index closed 0.66% or 159.50 points higher at 24,430.35 points after the trading session on Monday, compared to 24,270.85 points at the previous market close, according to the exchange data.
Meanwhile, the BSE SENSEX index ended 0.67% or 521 points higher at 78,285 points after the stock market hours on July 6, compared to 77,763.91 points at the previous market close, as per the data.
Stocks like HDFC Bank, Hindalco, ONGC, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, and BEL were among the top gainers on the NIFTY50 index as of Monday’s stock market close.
HDFC Bank shares closed 3.3% higher, Hindalco ended 2.7% higher, ONGC closed 2.5% higher, Bajaj Auto closed 2.4%, Mahindra & Mahindra ended 2% higher, Eicher Motors closed 1.6% higher, and BEL ended 1.6% on July 6.
Other NIFTY50 stocks like Kotak Mahindra Bank, Max Healthcare, TCS, Coal India, Bajaj Finserv, Wipro, and Power Grid Corp. were among the top laggards after the trading session on Monday.
Kotak Mahindra Bank dropped 4%, Max Healthcare dropped 2%, TCS ended 1.6%, Coal India closed 1.4%, Bajaj Finserv closed 1.1%, Wipro ended 1% lower, and Power Grid Corp. closed 0.8% lower.
Out of the 50 stocks listed on the NIFTY50 index, 24 stocks ended in the green, while 26 stocks declined to end in the red zone, according to the exchange data.
Dixon Technologies up 7%, Radico Khaitan up 6%, Power India up 4.3%, IndusInd Bank up 3.7%, GE Vernova up 3.6%, and Phoenix Ltd up 3.2% were among the top gainers in the Nifty Midcap 100 index after the trading session on Monday, July 6.
Others like Billionbrains Garage Ventures (Groww) lost 3%, MCX lost 3%, Bank of India lost 2.6%, Suzlon lost 2.6%, Premier Energies lost 2.2%, and Aurobindo Pharma lost 1.6% were among the top losers on the midcap index on Monday.
On the small-cap front, Swan Corp. gained 7.2%, Manappuram Finance gained 6%, Welspun Corp. gained 6%, Wegis Logistics gained 5.4%, Karur Vysya Bank gained 4.8%, and Signature gained 4.2% on July 6.
While others like Zensar Technologies dropped 7.3%, Ola Electric lost 5%, Pine Labs lost 3.3%, NBCC lost 2.7%, Deepak Fertilisers lost 2.3%, Syngene lost 2.2%, and Tenneco Clean Air India lost 2.2% on Monday’s market.
