SUMMARY
SENSEX declined 150.68 points or 0.18% to settle at 84,628.16. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE NIFTY dipped 29.85 points or 0.11% to 25,936.20.

The 30-share BSE SENSEX declined 150.68 points or 0.18% to settle at 84,628.16. During the day, it fell by 559.45 points or 0.65% to 84,219.39. The 50-share NSE NIFTY dipped 29.85 points or 0.11% to 25,936.20.
Shares of Bajaj Finserv dragged down the NIFTY50 index, slipping 1.48%.
It was followed by selling in Trent (-1.31%), Coal India (-1.31%), Tech Mahindra (-1.13%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (-1.1%), which were among the top losers on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Tata Steel closed in the green (2.82%).
The other top gainers included JSW Steel (2.82%), SBI Life Insurance Company (1.62%), Larsen & Toubro (1.47%), and HDFC Life Insurance Company (1.32%).
NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge fell 0.02% or 14.80 points to close at 59,765.35 on October 28. The index was weighed down by Vodafone Idea, which lost 5.32%.
It was followed by Supreme Industries, which fell 4.66% after reporting a 20.26% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹164.74 crore in Q2FY26.
BSE Limited (-3.48%), Torrent Power (-3.31%), and Waaree Energies (-2.70%) were also among the laggards.
On the flip side, Suzlon Energy led the gains, closing 4.82% higher.
UPL Ltd (4.14%), IndusInd Bank (3.63%), Indian Bank (3.58%), and Indus Towers (3.42%) were among the top winners.
Indus Towers shares soared despite reporting a 17% YoY decline in consolidated net profit to ₹1,839 crore in Q2FY26, due to pending dues from one of the large clients, according to the company filing.
The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index advanced by 0.02% or 4.55 points to close at 18,407.60.
It was supported by buying in Newgen Software Technologies, which closed 10.46% higher after posting a 16.22% YoY increase in its net profit to ₹81.74 crore, as against ₹70.33 crore in the year-ago period.
Swan Corp (4.47%), Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corporation (4.12%), Kalpataru Projects International (3.31%), and Go Digit General Insurance (3.02%) were also among the top gainers.
On the contrary, Aditya Birla Real Estate slipped 3.71%. The other top losers included Firstsource Solutions (-2.81%), BEML Ltd (-2.40%), Jyoti CNC Automation (-2.30%), and BLS International Services (-2.18%).
