India’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), shares were trading higher during the morning market hours on Friday, August 7, 2026, as market investors await the lender’s upcoming April to June quarter earnings report for the financial year 2026-27 during the day.
At the 9:15 am opening bell, SBI shares dropped to their early market low of ₹1,075.70 apiece on Friday’s market, in comparison to ₹1,085 apiece at the previous equity market close, NSE data showed.
Post the early market low, State Bank of India shares recovered their losses, trading 0.36% higher at ₹1,088.90 per share during the morning market hours on August 7, 2026.
NSE filing showed that SBI’s central board of directors informed the stock exchanges that the institutional lender is set to release its June quarter earnings report after the quarterly board meeting on Friday, August 7, 2026.
SBI will hold its Q1 earnings call with investors and analysts at 5:15 pm (IST) on the same day after the financial results.
Key focus of investors should remain on the company’s interest income growth, net interest margins, asset quality, among other key factors, along with the management commentary and guidance for the upcoming period.
Market experts predict that SBI’s standalone profits may decline in the range of 3-5% YoY to ₹18,120-18,520 crore levels due to the pressure on the lender’s margins. However, the bank’s net interest income (NII) is expected to rise 12-13.5% in the upcoming Q1 earnings report.
SBI’s net interest income is expected to range around ₹46,270 to ₹46,730 crore on healthy growth of the lender’s loan book in the period under review.
Amid the improving NII expectations, SBI’s net interest margin (NIM) is expected to advance marginally to 2.85%, while the gross non-performing assets (GNPA) and net NPA are expected to remain unchanged on a sequential basis.
SBI shares have delivered more than 149% returns to investors in the last five years, over 91% gains in the last three years, and more than 34% returns on their investment in the past one-year period, according to NSE data.
On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, State Bank of India shares were trading 10% higher and have risen 4.6% in the last one month. The exchange data also showed that the PSU lender’s share price was trading 5.7% higher over the last five market sessions.
SBI shares hit their 52-week high of ₹1,234.70 on February 24, 2026, while the 52-week low was at ₹790 on August 8, 2025. The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at over ₹10.02 lakh crore as of the trading session on Friday, August 7, 2026.
