Indian stock market indices crashed during the trading session on Thursday, October 8, as investors focused on the selling pressure in the market, with NIFTY dropping below 22,200 points amid elevated global bond yields and global oil prices.
NSE data showed that the benchmark NIFTY50 index declined 1.8% to hit an intraday low of 22,190 points during the afternoon session on Thursday’s market, in comparison to 22,603.05 points at the previous equity market close.
The BSE SENSEX lost 1.69% to hit a low of 71,406.79 points during the trading session on October 8, compared to 72,638.70 points at the previous equity market close, as per the exchange data.
Trading activity surpassing 2 crore equity shares marked a 182.39 times increase in overall trading volumes over the average trading volume of 1,09,935 shares on the National Stock Exchange, in turn triggering the high-volume gains.
On the average trading volume on a two-week basis, Thursday’s volume gains marked a 133.43 times increase in activity as investors focused on the company’s healthy business updates for the July-September quarter of the financial year 2026-27.
NSE filings showed that Fino Payments Bank’s average total deposits increased 13% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹2,794 crore in the second quarter of FY27, while the renewable income surged 20% YoY to ₹28 crore.
However, the company’s number of accounts opened declined 17% to around 2.45 lakh, from 2.95 lakh in the same period a year earlier.
Indokem share price surged 20% to hit an intraday high and upper circuit level of ₹697.10 apiece during the trading session on October 8, in comparison to ₹580.95 apiece at the previous equity market close, as per the exchange data.
Trading volumes surged to around 5.23 lakh equity shares, marking a 144.56 times increase in overall activity when compared to the average one-week trading volume of 3,621 equity shares on NSE.
The exchange data further showed that the trading volumes gained 110.11 times on Thursday’s market, when compared to the activity from the two-week average of 4,754 equity shares.
NSE data showed that the trading volumes of the stock surged past 4 crore equity shares during the trading session on Thursday, marking a 55.85 times increasing in overall activity when compared to the one-week average trading volumes of 7,23,106 equity shares.
When compared to the two-week average trading volume of 10.12 lakh equity shares, Thursday’s trading activity marked a 39.87 times increase, as per the exchange data.
Latest filings showed that the jewellery company reported a 19% growth in revenues from existing stores, while achieving its highest-ever topline of ₹5,000 crore in the first half of the financial year.
The company also said that business continues to demonstrate strong resilience despite gold price volatility between ₹1,40,000 and ₹1,50,000 per 10 grams, in line with Q1 existing prices.
Firstsource Solutions share price rallied more than 9% to hit an intraday high of ₹282.85 apiece on Thursday, October 8, in comparison to ₹259.20 apiece at the previous equity market close, NSE data showed.
The exchange data showed that the trading activity witnessed a 7.91 times increase in overall volumes to more than 1.52 crore equity shares, when compared to the one-week average trading volumes of 19,22,992 equity shares.
While the trading activity surged 12.94 times to Thursday’s levels, when compared to the two-week average trading volumes of 11,75,100 equity shares.
Shares of PNGS Reva Diamond Jewellery jumped around 17% to hit an intraday and record high of ₹738 apiece on Thursday’s market, in comparison to ₹631 apiece at the previous equity market close.
NSE data also showed that the trading activity in the company’s stock surged to 1,19,29,906 or more than 1.19 crore equity shares on October 8, marking a 10.86 times increase in volumes over the one-week average of 10,98,433 shares.
The trading volumes surged to its highs on Thursday, marking a 19 times increase over the two week average volumes of 6,26,394 equity shares on the National Stock Exchange.
The high-volume momentum triggered the intraday gains on Thursday’s market, as investors focused on the company’s latest Q2 FY27 business update of 46% growth in revenues to ₹120.54 crore in the September quarter, from ₹82.41 crore in the same period a year earlier.
