Tata Investment Corporation on Thursday, October 31, reported an 11.5% year-on-year (YoY) decline in net profit at ₹100.2 crore for the second quarter that ended September 30, 2024. Revenue from operations increased 16.3% to ₹132.2 crore against ₹113.7 crore in the year-ago period.

Diwali Muhurat Trading Session 2024: Muhurat Trading, the one-hour special trading session on the occasion of Diwali, will commence at 6 pm today (November 1) and conclude at 7 pm. Muhurat Trading will mark the beginning of the new Samvat (Hindu calendar year)—Samvat 2081. 

It is believed that trading during the 'Muhurat' or auspicious hour brings prosperity and financial growth for the stakeholders.

During the Samvat year 2080 that ended on Thursday, the BSE Sensex jumped 14,484.38 points, or 22.31%, and the Nifty climbed 4,780 points, or 24.60%.

Investors’ wealth rose by ₹124.42 lakh crore during the period to Rs 4,44,71,429.92 crore (USD 5.29 trillion), as per a PTI report.

In October, the BSE benchmark index fell sharply by 4,910.72 points, or 5.82%, and the Nifty tumbled 1,605.5 points, or 6.22%.

On the global front, equities were steady, and Treasury yields near four-month highs on Friday ahead of US jobs data, with volatility in British government bonds after this week's budget adding to the sense of nervousness.

Europe's broad STOXX 600 managed to find its footing on Friday, rising 0.6%, though it was still set for its worst week in nearly two months. Those gains were balanced by falling Asian stocks, particularly in Japan, to leave MSCI's world share index flat.

NBCC: NBCC has bagged multiple orders worth ₹235 crore from Power Grid, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith University, Varanasi, and Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi.
Narayana Hrudayalaya: Narayana Hrudayalaya on Thursday, October 31, reported a 12.3% year-on-year (YoY) decline in consolidated net profit at ₹198.8 crore for the second quarter that ended on September 30, 2024. It reported a consolidated total operating revenue of ₹1,400 crore for Q2 FY25, marking a 7.3% YoY increase from ₹1,305.2 crore in the same period last year and a sequential growth of 4.4%.
OMCs, aviation: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), BPCL, and HPCL are expected to trade actively today as the companies have revised prices of ATF and cooking gas. Jet fuel, or ATF, price on Friday was hiked by 3.3%, and the rate of commercial LPG used in hotels and restaurants increased by ₹62 per 19 kg cylinder in the monthly revision done in line with international oil price trends.

Aviation stocks such as InterGlobe Aviation and SpiceJet will trade actively. 

M&M, Maruti, Hyundai Motor India: Some top Indian carmakers reported a surge in sports utility vehicle sales to dealers in the festive month of October, Reuters reported on Friday, while the small-car segment stayed sluggish, highlighting customers' increasing preference for larger, premium cars.

Maruti Suzuki, India's No. 1 carmaker in terms of market share, posted a 19.4% rise in SUV sales to hit a record high. In contrast, No. 2 SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra posted its highest monthly sales in the current fiscal year, a 25% rise.

Mahindra, which has a portfolio comprised entirely of SUVs, reported a monthly sales rise this year ending March 2025, mostly supported by new launches such as the "Thar ROXX".

Meanwhile, recently listed Hyundai Motor India posted its highest-ever monthly SUV sales at 37,902 units.

Eicher Motors: The company on Friday reported a 31% rise in total sales of its Royal Enfield motorcycles at 1,10,574 units in October. International business sales were at 8,688 units last month against 3,477 units in October last year, Eicher Motors said in the regulatory filing.

Sales of models with engine capacity up to 350 cc rose 27% to 96,837 units compared to 76,075 units in October last year, it added.

Tata Motors: Tata Motors for October 2024 has reported domestic and international market sales of 82,682 vehicles, compared with 82,954 units during October 2023. These include total commercial vehicle (CV) sales of 34,259 units, up 0% YoY, and total passenger vehicle (PV) sales of 48,423 units, a growth of 0% YoY.
Bajaj Auto: The two-wheeler major on Friday reported a record monthly sale of 30,656 Chetak scooters in October 2024, marking a surge of 211% compared to the same month last year. This is the highest-ever retail sales of the Chetak electric scooter in a single month for the company.
