CG Power shares drop 4% as firm suspects cyberattack on IT systems; will it impact operations?

CG Power and Industrial Solutions shares declined around 4% to their intraday low on Wednesday, August 19, as investors reacted to the company’s latest update, in which the firm suspects a cyberattack on its IT systems, according to an exchange filing.

Shares of CG Power declined nearly 4% to their intraday low of ₹860.20 apiece on Wednesday’s market, in comparison to ₹894.20 apiece at the previous equity market close, as per NSE data.

After touching the intraday low, the company shares recovered some of their losses, trading around 3.18% lower at ₹865.80 apiece during the session on August 19.

The company filed information related to the cyber event update after market operating hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, which resulted in the company's shares being in the focus of investors on Wednesday’s market.

Will this attack impact operations?

In the official filing, CG Power said that the cyber event that occurred has not impacted the core systems and operations of the company, and the firm is working with a team of external and internal cybersecurity experts to help in the investigation.

“The event has not impacted the core systems and operations of the company. In accordance with best practices, the company is working closely with a specialised team of external and internal cybersecurity experts to assist in investigations, remediation and mitigation,” the company informed the stock exchanges.

After the cyber attack, the company also informed the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), which is the national nodal agency for responding to computer security incidents.

₹16 crore acquisition move

This week, CG Power’s subsidiary Axiro Semiconductor Private Limited acquired a 100% stake in Tosil Systems Private Limited for a total consideration of ₹16.44 crores, according to an exchange filing on Monday, August 17.

The entity which was acquired is involved in the business of providing semiconductor and embedded engineering services, including silicon design, verification and physical implementation, embedded software and Linux BSP development, and Edge AI engineering services to global semiconductor and electronics OEMs.

How have CG Power shares performed?

NSE data showed that CG Power shares have delivered more than 960% returns to investors in the last five years, over 101% gains in the last three years, and more than 28% returns on their investments in the last one-year period.

Although so far in the calendar year 2026, the company's shares have risen 36%, the stock has lost 4% in the past one-month period. The exchange data also showed that CG Power shares were trading 2.2% lower in the last five market sessions.

Shares of CG Power hit their 52-week high of ₹980.90 apiece on July 2, 2026, while the 52-week low was at ₹525.50 apiece on January 27, 2026.

The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was trading at more than ₹1.36 lakh crore as of the market session on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
