People with knowledge on the matter told Bloomberg that Paytm will start selling artificial intelligence agents to enterprise customers, betting on rising demand for such bots that can automatically handle a variety of workloads and tasks with minimal supervision.

It further stated that this marks a major departure from its core business of handling digital payments for consumers and businesses and offering a slate of related services like loans and investing.

Pi will initially target banks, smaller lenders, insurers and other financial institutions in India and the United Arab Emirates, people told Bloomberg, asking not to be named, as the information is private.

Responding to the report, Paytm in a regulatory filing said, “We wish to clarify that the Company has been investing in and developing artificial intelligence capabilities as part of its ongoing business initiatives, including a possible ‘revenue optimization journey of AI’, as previously disclosed in the earning release for the Q1 FY27.”

“The media report neither relates to any undisclosed event or information which is material nor requires disclosure by the Company under Regulation 30 read with Schedule III of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015,” it further added.
