Renewable energy stocks such as Waaree Energies, Adani Green Energy, NTPC Green Energy and Premier Energies were trading in the negative territory on Thursday, April 2.

This comes amid an overall decline in the stock markets due to rising geopolitical tensions following United States President Donald Trump's warning of intensified military actions against Iran, leading to a rise in crude oil prices.

Waaree Energies share price

Shares of Waaree Energies are trading 2.66% lower at ₹3,007 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at 11:45 am. Its market capitalisation stands at ₹86,752.50 crore.

In an exchange filing on April 1, the company said that it has received an order issued by the Joint Commissioner of State Tax, IV Bandra, Mumbai (Appellate Authority) after the appeal filed by the firm against an audit conducted for the financial years 2017-18 and 2018-19. "Pursuant to the said appellate order, the total demand has been significantly reduced to ₹23,62,494 and ₹25,86,704 from ₹6,95,25,249 and ₹6,02,70,052, respectively," it said.

Adani Green Energy share price

Adani Green Energy shares are down 3% to ₹825.8 apiece on the NSE.

On Wednesday, the company said that it has added 5 GW+ (5,051 MW) of renewable energy capacity in FY26, taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 gigawatts (GW). The new capacity addition includes 3.4 GW of solar, 0.7 GW of wind and 1 GW of wind-solar hybrid capacity.

"Our addition of over 5 GW of new capacity marks a watershed moment for India’s renewable energy sector, placing the country firmly on the global map of leading the clean energy transition. It marks a significant leap in accelerating the country’s shift to a low-carbon economy and strengthening energy security," said Sagar Adani, the company's executive director.

NTPC Green Energy share price

Shares of NTPC Green Energy are trading at ₹97.67 per unit, down 0.55%, on the NSE.

On March 31, the company had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PTC India for exploring the possibilities of power sales of renewable energy to the latter through bilateral arrangements and other market mechanisms.

Premier Energies share price

The stock has descended 3.27% to ₹907 per unit on the NSE, with a market capitalisation of ₹41,054.88 crore.

On March 30, the company, in a regulatory filing, said that it has commissioned its 5.6 GW solar module manufacturing facility at Telangana's Seetharampur with trial production commenced. With this capacity addition, the firm's total solar module capacity has now touched 11.1 GW.
