Renewable energy stocks traded mixed in morning deals on Wednesday, July 8, amid a decline in benchmark indices after tensions between the US and Iran flared up on Tuesday, triggering a spike in crude oil prices and weighing on broader market sentiment.
In April 2026, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Shri Pralhad Joshi said India ranks third globally in Renewable Energy Installed Capacity, according to the Renewable Energy Statistics 2026.
The minister said India has moved ahead of Brazil in the ranking. The International Renewable Energy Agency released the statistics as of December 2025.
As of December 2025, renewable energy (including hydro) accounted for 50.22% of India’s total installed power capacity, with solar capacity reaching 135.81 GW, leading the renewable segment. Overall non-fossil fuel capacity stood at 51.93%, reflecting a continued shift towards clean energy sources in India’s power mix, according to the IBEF article.
"India's wind energy sector is making significant strides towards achieving the ambitious target of 100 GW of production by 2030, according to the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA). The country currently has an installed wind energy capacity of over 50 GW and an annual domestic manufacturing capacity of over 18 GW for wind turbines and components," the article added.

Premier Energies recently unveiled its plan to invest around ₹6,000 crore over the next three years to build ingot and wafer capabilities to become an integrated player in solar manufacturing in India.
"We are investing to build our capabilities further. Our total investment in the ingot and wafer business will be approximately Rs 6,000 crore over the next three years (by 2028)," the CBO said in reply to a question about whether the company is working on strategies of strong backward integration.
Rustagi stated that the project has been approved by the Andhra Pradesh government, which has provided 200 acres of land in Naidupeta, around 45 minutes away from Tirupati.
In late June 2026, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy said it has secured an order worth around $560 million in Egypt.
Once complete, this 1,000 MW-capacity solar power project integrated with a 600 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will become one of Egypt's largest utility-scale renewable energy developments, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) said in a statement.
"SWREL, in a 50-50 joint venture with Hassan Allam Construction, has secured an order valued at approximately USD 560 million for the West Minya Solar Power Project in Minya Governorate, Egypt," it noted.
In June 2026, Suzlon said it had secured a repeat order from Tata Power to construct a 400 MW wind energy project in Andhra Pradesh.
The partnership with Tata Power across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh has crossed the 1 GW mark, Suzlon said in an exchange filing.
As part of the new project, Suzlon will install 127 S144 series wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW.
The company will deliver the project through its EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) offering, covering land acquisition, balance-of-plant, the extra-high voltage line, commissioning, and operations and maintenance services.
