Worth ₹153.76 crore, the order includes the 400 kV AIS extension substation package SS136T, along with the extension of the 400/220 kV Tumkur-II (AIS) Pooling Substation and civil works for a ±300 MVAR STATCOM at the Tumkur-II (AIS) Pooling Substation, Vikran Engineering said in a regulatory filing.

The EPC player said that the project is associated with transmission system strengthening at Tumkur-II for integration of additional renewable energy potential of 2.7 GW through the tariff-based competitive bidding route.

Vikran Engineering Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Markhedkar said the order from Power Grid strengthens the company’s presence in the high-voltage transmission infrastructure space. He added that the Tumkur-II project supports the strengthening of India’s transmission network and the integration of additional renewable energy capacity into the grid.

The company further said that its scope includes design, engineering, manufacture, testing and supply of equipment and materials, along with transportation, unloading, storage, erection, testing and commissioning required for complete execution of the package.

The work is structured under separate supply of goods and supply of services contracts, with the overall execution schedule stipulated at 21 months from the date of issuance of the Notification of Award.

“We remain focused on delivering the project with strong engineering discipline, stringent quality standards and timely execution, while continuing to build a high-quality, diversified and sustainable transmission EPC order book,” said Markhedkar.
