Top gainers and losers on September 5: Titan, LTI Mindtree and Wipro among top NIFTY movers

SUMMARY

Titan shares gained the most among the benchmark NIFTY constituents. The Tata Group stock closed at ₹3,720 apiece, up 3.11%. Among other NIFTY constituents, LTI Mindtree, Wipro, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) were the major gainers. Cipla and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories emerged as the top drags among NIFTY shares.

NIFTY settles above 25,100, SENSEX drops 151 points in volatile session: Check top losers and gainers

Benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY closed in the red on Thursday, September 5, extending losses in a volatile session.

At close, NIFTY50 settled at 25,145.1, down by 53.6 points, or 0.21%. In the intraday trade the benchmark index plunged to an intraday low of 25,127.75.

BSE SENSEX declined 151 points, or 0.18%, to settle at 82,201. The index fell to the 82,130 level in intraday trade.

Among the sectoral indices NIFTY MidSmall Healthcare and NIFTY Media were the top gainers as they closed higher by 1.08% and 0.81%, respectively. On the other hand, NIFTY Realty and NIFTY Auto were the top losers as the sectoral indices closed lower up to 0.97%.

Out of the total 50 NIFTY constituents, 33 closed in the negative territory dragged by Cipla, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Coal India shares.

Titan and LTI Mindtree lead top NIFTY gainers

Titan shares gained the most among constituents of the benchmark NIFTY index. The Tata Group company’s shares closed at ₹3,720 apiece, up by 3.11%. The stock gained 4% to hit an intraday high of ₹3,753.95 apiece.
IT Services major, LTI Mindtree shares traded higher by more than 2% to hit an intraday high of ₹6,200 apiece. The stock settled 1.44% higher at ₹6,158.6 apiece. The stock also emerged as the second biggest gainer on the NIFTY IT Index.

Shares of Wipro gained over 1% to hit an intraday high of ₹526 apiece on the NSE. The stock closed higher by 1.16% at ₹525.15 apiece.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) shares gained nearly 2% to hit an intraday high of ₹364.35 apiece. The stock closed 1.11% higher at ₹361.2 apiece on the NSE.
Shares of diversified FMCG major ITC Ltd gained more than 1% to touch an intraday high of ₹511.9 apiece before closing at ₹511.25, up by 0.97%.

Among other NIFTY constituents, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel and Infosys closed higher by up to 0.81%.

Cipla and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories among top losers

Pharmaceutical major Cipla shares declined the most among NIFTY constituents. The stock dipped over 1.72% to hit a low of ₹1,623.4 apiece on the NSE. The company’s stock closed at ₹1,627.7 apiece, down by 1.46%.
Shares of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories dropped over 1% to hit an intraday low of ₹6,686 apiece. The stock closed lower by 1.28% at ₹6,700 apiece.
Coal India closed lower by 1.28% at ₹497.2 and shares of Reliance Industries Ltd also dropped 1.26% to ₹2,991 apiece. FMCG major Britannia Industries stock also tanked 1.22% to ₹5,854 apiece at the close.

Stocks of Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra also dropped up to 1.09%.
