The Indian equity benchmarks fell for second straight session on Monday, September 22, dragged down by losses in information technology heavyweights like Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HCL Technologies and Wipro after United States President Donald Trump on Friday signed a proclamation to raise the fee for H-1B visas to a $100,000 (₹88,00,000) annually from $1,200. The SENSEX fell as much as 629 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 25,151. The SENSEX ended 466 points or 0.56% lower at 82,160 and NIFTY50 index dropped 125 points to close at 25,202.

According to reports, Indian migrant workers are the major beneficiary of the H-1B visa programme in US as they account for over 70% of H-1B visa holders.
Analysts say that the sharp hike in visa fees will adversely impact financials of Indian IT companies.
TCS (-2.96%), Infosys (-2.55%), Cipla (-2.14%) and Wipro (-2.11%) were also among losers in the NIFTY50 index.
On the flipside, Adani Enterprises was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 4% to close at ₹2,624 mirroring gains in Adani Group shares.
Eternal (1.6%), Bajaj Finance (1.37%), Adani Ports (1.2%) and Ultratech Cement (1.1%) were also among the gainers.
NIFTY Midcap 100 index fell 0.67% or 395 points to close at 58,699. As many as 74 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended lower while 26 ended higher.
Mphasis was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 4.7% to close at ₹2,853. Coforge (-4.46%), Persistent Systems (-4.3%), Sona Comstar (-3.71%) and Voltas (-3.09%) were also among the losers.
On the other hand, Adani Total Gas was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 20% to close at 781.70.
Hudco (4.79%), Muthoot Finance (4.26%), Paytm (1.72%) and MRF (1.60%) were also among the gainers.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 index fell 1.17% or 216 points to close at 18,289. As many 78 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended lower while 22 closed lower.
Zensar Technologies was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 5.87% to close at ₹807.40. Kfin Technologies (-5.21%), Cyient (-3.88%), Inventurus Knowledge Solutions (-3.66%) and Sagility (-3.45%) were also among the laggards.
On the contrary, Anant Raj was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock advanced 5.53% to close at ₹675.
Hindustan Copper (4.42%), NBCC (3.74%), Manappuram Finance (2.62%) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders (2.05%) were also among the gainers.
