Top gainers and losers, June 16: HCL Tech surges 4%, Tata Consumer rises 3%, Hindalco down 3%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in the positive territory for the fourth consecutive session on Tuesday, June 16, amid buying in IT stocks and an appreciation in the rupee. Furthermore, the investor sentiment also improved amid a decline in crude oil prices as geopolitical tensions eased.

The SENSEX advanced by as much as 0.76% to hit an intraday high of 76,724.62. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 touched the session’s peak of 24,002.60.

On June 16, the SENSEX gained by 562.45 points or 0.74% to close at 76,826.78, while the 50-share NIFTY ended higher by 135.25 points or 0.57% at 23,989.15.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The 50-share NIFTY index was bolstered by gains in the stock of HCL Technologies, which closed 3.68% higher, as the IT services company acquired a 10.46% stake in government-backed sovereign AI model developer Sarvam AI for ₹1,427.25 crore.

It was followed by Tata Consumer Products (2.69%), NTPC (2.24%), Bajaj Finserv (2.10%) and Hindustan Unilever (1.90%), which were among the other top gainers on June 16.

On the other hand, the top losers included Hindalco Industries (-2.95%), JSW Steel (-1.66%), HDFC Life Insurance Company (-1.03%), Eicher Motors (-0.95%) and Maruti Suzuki India (-0.85%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s midcap gauge, the NIFTY Midcap 100, rose 0.41% or 252.40 points to 61,802.05 on Tuesday.

The index was supported by gains in Coforge (4.59%), Suzlon Energy (4.25%), Suzlon Energy (4.25%), SBI Cards and Payment Services (3.51%), Prestige Estates Projects (3.23%) and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company (3.21%), which were among the top winners.

On the flipside, the top laggards included National Aluminium Company (-4.20%), Billionbrains Garage Ventures (-3.61%), Vishal Mega Mart (-2.98%), Vodafone Idea (-2.21%), and Exide Industries (-1.57%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 closed at 18,477.75, reflecting a 77.75 points or 0.42% increase on June 16.

The top gainers were in PG Electroplast (7.06%), Aditya Birla Real Estate (6.29%), Netweb Technologies India (6.29%), Brigade Enterprises (5.69%) and Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals (3.54%).

On the contrary, Ramco Cements (-3.11%), Ather Energy (-2.86%), Ola Electric Mobility (-2.54%), Pine Labs (-2.34%) and Piramal Pharma (-2.04%) were among the top losers.
