Top gainers and losers: The benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY50 closed in the green on Friday, June 12, as investor sentiment lifted amid media reports that Iran and the United States have agreed to a draft truce deal.

The reports suggested that the US and Iran have agreed on a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) to reopen the Strait OF Hormuz, cancel oil sanctions against the country and release frozen Iranian funds, in exchange for no nuclear weapon ambitions.

During the afternoon session, the SENSEX rallied as much as 2.4% to hit an intraday high of 75,608.02. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 surged to the session’s peak of 23,645.35.

On June 12, the SENSEX climbed by 1,695.41 points or 2.30% to close at 75,527.95, while the NIFTY50 advanced by 461.30 points or 1.99% to end at 23,622.90.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY50 pack was led by gains in Shriram Finance (8.10%), Bajaj Finance (5.68%), Larsen & Toubro (4.87%), InterGlobe Aviation (4.50%) and Tata Motors PV (4.02%), which were among the other top gainers.

On the contrary, the top losers included Nestle India (-3.23%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (-2.24%), Tech Mahindra (-2.18%), SBI Life Insurance Company (-0.81%) and Tata Consumer Products (-0.71%).

Shares of Nestle India fell on Friday, following an ANI report that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a notice to the company over an alleged complaint involving the detection of an insect or larvae in a Maggi packet. As per the report, FSSAI has taken cognisance of complaints circulating on social media and sought detailed action taken reports (ATRs) from multiple companies, including Nestle India, KFC, Flipkart India and Open Secret.

NIFTY MIDCAP 100 top gainers and losers

The NSE Midcap gauge ended at 60,768.10, marking a 1,442.70 points or 2.43% jump.

The top winners were Ashok Leyland (9.83%), L&T Finance (7.34%), Motilal Oswal Financial Services (6.89%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (6.56%) and Tube Investments of India (6.42%).

On the flipside, Oil India fell by 2.36%. It was followed by Premier Energies (-2.21%), Coforge (-1.71%), Lenskart Solutions (-1.64%) and Persistent Systems (-1.07%), which were among the top laggards.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap index jumped by 436.40 points or 2.62% to close at 17,079.10.

Its top gainers included IFCI (20%), Netweb Technologies India (9.51%), Tata Teleservices (9.51%), Aegis Vopak Terminals (8.97%) and Inox Wind (8.53%).

On the contrary, Cemindia Projects (-3.44%), Onesource Specialty Pharma (-2.80%), Gland Pharma (-2.10%), Cartrade Tech (-1.86%) and Balrampur Chini Mills (-1.45%) were among its top losers.
