Top gainers and losers, April 29: ITC gains 6%, Tech Mahindra, RIL rise 3%, IndiGo down 2%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in the positive territory on Wednesday, April 29, driven by a rally in FMCG and realty stocks. Investor sentiment also improved on the back of positive Q4 earnings.

On Tuesday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold stocks worth ₹595.78 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased equities worth ₹2,103.74 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.

The SENSEX advanced to an intraday high of 77,982.07, while the NIFTY50 touched the session’s peak of 24,334.70.

On April 29, the 30-share BSE SENSEX jumped 609.45 points or 0.79% to close at 77,496.36. Meanwhile, NIFTY climbed 181.95 points or 0.76% to end at 24,177.65.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY50 pack was bolstered by gains in ITC, which closed 5.96% higher, amid a report by NDTV Profit that the company anlong with Godfrey Phillips will hike cigarette prices by 17% in May.

It was followed by Tech Mahindra (3.31%), Reliance Industries (2.96%), Coal India (2.93%), and Maruti Suzuki (2.89%), which were among the top gainers on Wednesday.

Shares of Maruti Suzuki jumped, as it posted a record annual consolidated net profit of ₹14,679.5 crore in FY26, a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 1.24%, riding on its best-ever annual sales of over 24.22 lakh units, propelled by the GST rate reduction.

On the other hand, shares of InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, closed 2.31% lower. The other top losers included Dr. Reddy’s (-1.99%), NTPC (-1.66%), Bajaj Finserv (-1.02%), and ICICI Bank (-0.97%).

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s midcap index, the NIFTY Midcap 100, closed at 60,376.90, down by 0.07% or 42.50 points.

The top laggards were JSW Energy (-3.94%), Lenskart Solutions (-3.21%), Vishal Mega Mart (-2.48%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (-2.74%), and Blue Star (-2.87%).

On the contrary, Godfrey Phillips India (7.08%), Cochin Shipyard (4.74%), Vodafone Idea (3.22%), IndusInd Bank (3.10%) and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (2.86%) were among the top winners.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s small-cap gauge, the NIFTY Smallcap 100, ended 0.65% or 117.05 points higher at 18,093.15.

The pack was led by Devyani International (13.67%), Bandhan Bank (11.21%), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (6.94%), RBL Bank (6.41%), and The Great Eastern Shipping Company (5.18%), which were among the top gainers.

The stock of Bandhan Bank hit a 52-week high, reporting a 68.02% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its net profit to ₹534.14 crore during the quarter under review, compared to ₹317.90 crore in the March quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year (Q4 FY25).

Shares of Garden Reach Shipbuilders surged, as its net profit for the fourth quarter rose 24% to ₹303.19 crore, compared year-on-year with ₹244.24 crore in the same period a year ago.

On the flip side, the top losers were Cohance Lifesciences (-4.73%), Pine Labs (-4.46%), Meesho (-3.43%), CESC (-3.15%) and IFCI (-2.77%).
