The domestic stock market opened higher on Tuesday, September 15, after a long weekend. The GIFT NIFTY futures had indicated a positive opening, with the NIFTY50 expected to open around 34 points higher.
At 9:44 AM, the NIFTY50 was trading 42.25 points, or 0.18%, higher at 23,440.35, while the S&P BSE SENSEX was up 205.75 points, or 0.28%, at 74,987.51.
HDFC Bank also announced changes to its board, increasing the number of whole-time directors to four from the present three, and also appointing chief credit officer Jimmy Tata as a whole-time director, as per an exchange notification.
The Reserve Bank has rejected Tata Sons' application to surrender its core investment company registration, killing the Tata Group holding company's attempt to avoid a mandatory stock-market listing and setting the stage for it to become publicly traded.
In contrast, oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil Corporation, BPCL and HPCL could face margin pressure if higher crude costs are not fully passed on to consumers.
Higher input costs could also weigh on paints and tyre companies, including Asian Paints, Berger Paints, Indigo Paints, MRF, Apollo Tyres and JK Tyre.
Aviation stocks such as IndiGo and Air India-linked entities could also remain under pressure as jet fuel costs rise, while Reliance Industries could see mixed implications given its upstream oil and refining businesses.
The broader market could also track the impact of higher crude on inflation, the rupee and corporate input costs.

The company board has approved additional capacity expansion of 46 lakh fibre kilometres (Kms) per annum for optical fibre, 56.4 lakh fibre Kms per annum for optical fibre cable and 300 metric tonnes (MT) per annum for preform, the filing said.
"The additional capital expenditure for the proposed capacity expansion is estimated at approximately Rs 820 crore. The investment will be funded through an appropriate mix of internal accruals, proceeds from the preferential issue of warrants already issued to the promoter, promoter group entity, borrowing from financial institutions...," the filing said.
The US FDA conducted the inspection at the facility from September 3-11, 2026, the company said in the filing.
"At the conclusion of the inspection, the USFDA issued a Form 483 with 7 observations. These observations are related to enhancements in our practices, procedures and documentation," Piramal Pharma stated.
The company said it is addressing these observations and preparing a detailed response for submission to the USFDA within the stipulated timeline.
Piramal Pharma added that it remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and will work closely with the agency to address all observations comprehensively.

Solar Industries: Solar Industries India Ltd on Monday said it will acquire South Africa's Omnia Holdings Ltd for nearly ₹13,000 crore as it seeks to become a global leader in explosives and blasting solutions.
Nagpur-based Solar Group manufactures industrial explosives and initiating systems. It caters to customers across mining, infrastructure, construction, defence and space sectors. The group has a presence in the South African market.
Omnia Holdings is a diversified global group with complementary chemical and specialised businesses serving customers across the mining, agriculture and chemicals sectors.
In a regulatory filing, Solar Industries India said its arm, Solar SA Investments Proprietary Ltd, and Omnia Holdings have signed definitive agreements for this deal.
