The Indian equity benchmarks extended losses in afternoon deals as sentiment remained negative tracking a surge in crude prices. The SENSEX fell as much as 565 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 23,811 dragged down by losses in HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India and Axis Bank.
As of 1:45 pm, the SENSEX was down 393 points at 76,361 and NIFTY50 index declined 133 points to 23,863.
Investor sentiment took a knock after crude oil prices in the global market surged on the back of continued attacks from the United States on strategic Iranian targets and the risk of another oil supply disruption.
Brent crude oil prices surged 2.5% to their intraday high of $96.46 per bbl on Thursday’s market, compared to $94.07 at the previous commodity market close, according to Investing.com data.
Shares of the green energy producer surged as much as 9% to hit an intraday high of ₹99.60 on the NSE after the company said that its net profit in June quarter rose 55% to ₹305 crore and its revenue from operations advanced 21% to ₹1,107 crore.
Trading volume on the NSE jumped by 28 times to 8.49 crore shares compared with an average volume of 30.24 lakh shares.
On the BSE, as many as 41.50 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 2.48 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
Shares of the Pune-based auto parts maker dropped as much as 12.89% to hit an intraday low of ₹411 after the company announced its June quarter earnings.
CIE Automotive's net profit in April-June period rose 16% to ₹236 crore from ₹204 crore in the same period last year.
The company informed exchanges that Rajendra Vadlapudi, CEO - Iron Casting Division of CIE Automotive India, resigned from his position.
Trading volume in the stock jumped by 21 times to 48.52 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 2.31 lakh shares.
On the BSE, 76 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 13,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
The company’s revenue from operations increased 11% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹681 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹613 crore in the June quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q1 FY26).
Trading volume jumped 11.2 times to 1.71 crore shares on the NSE compared with an average volume of 15.36 lakh shares.
On the BSE, 9.59 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 1.19 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
Shares of the country's leading multiplex chain operator advanced as much as 5.44% to touch an intraday high of ₹1,048 after its net profit of ₹56.5 crore in April-June period compared with a loss of ₹54.5 crore.
Its average ticket price rose 8% annually to ₹273.
Trading volume jumped by 10.6 times to 17.04 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 1.61 lakh shares.
On the BSE, as many as 92,000 shares changed hands compared with an average of 10,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
Shares of the country's leading IT company declined as much as 8.24% to touch an intraday low of ₹9,950 amid spike in trading activity.
Trading volume on the NSE jumped 9.5 times to 29.32 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 3.08 lakh shares.
On the BSE, 2.49 lakh shares were traded compared with an average of 21,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
