After opening at record highs on Monday, December 1, the Indian equity benchmark indices slipped during the afternoon session as the rupee fell to an all-time low.
Kotak Mahindra Bank shares were the biggest contributor, rising 1.66%, followed by Adani Ports (1.23%), Tata Motors PV (0.99%), HCL Technologies (0.99%) and Eicher Motors (0.89%).
Shares of Bajaj Auto rose as much as 1.29% to an intraday high of ₹9,189.50 apiece on the NSE after the company announced its November business updates. The shares are up over 4% in 2025 on a YTD basis.
The company reported steady growth in overall sales for the month at 8% as exports continued to outperform the domestic market. In the two-wheeler segment, the domestic sales growth remained flat at 202,510 units vs 203,611 units in the same month the previous year. While the export market grew by 8% YoY to 177,204 units.
The commercial vehicle segment posted robust growth at 21% YoY in the domestic market and 75% in the export market, which boosted the overall commercial vehicle segment growth of 37% for November.
Overall, Bajaj Auto’s domestic sales growth, including two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, stood at 3%, while exports grew strongly by 14% YoY for the same month. Auto sales numbers are in focus after the new GST rate rationalisation reduced the GST rates for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
Shares of tobacco and tobacco product companies such as ITC Ltd, Godfrey Philips, and VST Industries, among others, were trading lower in the early trade on Monday, as, according to news reports, the government will introduce two bills in the Lok Sabha on Monday to levy excise duty on tobacco and tobacco products and a new cess on the manufacturing of pan masala.
Shares of ITC were trading 0.17% lower at ₹403.85 apiece on the NSE, while VST Industries was down 0.1% at ₹254.05. Godfrey Phillips India shares slipped up to 1.5%. Last seen, the scrip was down 1.45% at ₹2,831.3.
The Central Excise Amendment Bill, 2025, will replace the GST compensation cess currently levied on all tobacco products such as cigarettes, chewing tobacco, cigars, hookahs, zarda, and scented tobacco.

The carmaker’s overall auto sales for the month of November 2025 stood at 92,670 vehicles, a growth of 19%, including exports.
In the utility vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 56,336 vehicles in the domestic market, a growth of 22%, and overall, 57,598 vehicles, including exports. The domestic sales for Commercial Vehicles (CV) stood at 24,843, a growth of 17%.
Its total exports increased 5% to 2,923 units as compared to 2,776 units.
“In November, we achieved SUV sales of 56,336 units, a growth of 22%. The total vehicle sales stand at 92,670 units, a 19% year-on-year growth. We also celebrated the one-year anniversary of our Electric Origin SUVs and launched India’s first authentic Electric Origin 7-seater SUV—the XEV 9S—along with the world’s first Formula E-themed special edition SUV, the Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition,” said Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd.
At 12:20 PM, Mahindra & Mahindra shares were trading at ₹3,748.60 apiece on NSE, falling 0.23%.
Shares of eyewear company Lenskart Solutions surged on Monday after the company released its financial results for the quarter ended September 2025.
The stock rose as much as 9.34% to an intraday high of ₹448.80 per unit on the National Stock Exchange. At 12:20 PM, it was up 7% to ₹439.30.
Lenskart posted a 19.59% increase in consolidated profit after tax to ₹102.21 crore in Q2 FY26, a company filing said on Saturday. It had reported a profit after tax of ₹85.46 crore in the same period a year ago.
Lenskart posted a 26% year-on-year increase in product margin accruals in the reported quarter to ₹1,485 crore, from ₹1,180.7 crore. The product margin during the September quarter was up 69.2%, from 68.1% in the September 2024 quarter.
The company's revenue from operations advanced 20.76% to ₹2,096.14 crore in the quarter under review as against ₹1,735.68 crore in Q2 FY25.

The stock rose as much as 5.55% to ₹238.5 per unit on NSE. At 12:26 PM, it was up 1.26% to ₹228.80 per share.
According to an exchange filing on Monday, the firm said a ₹1,381 crore order is for a balance of system (BOS) package for three solar power projects at Khavda Renewable Energy Park, Gujarat.
With this order, Sterling and Wilson's order inflow has swelled more than ₹6,450 crore in the financial year 2025-26.
Shares of civil construction firm NCC Limited gained 2.3% to an intraday high of ₹175.38 apiece on Monday as the firm bagged three orders. But it, however, slipped in the afternoon session amid a weak market sentiment.
The company has received three other orders apart from the ₹2,062.71 crore (excluding GST) disclosed earlier this week, disclosing a total of ₹530.72 crore (excl. GST) during November 2025. Of these three orders received, ₹321.18 crore pertains to the Buildings Division, ₹129.77 crore pertains to the Water Division, and ₹79.77 crore pertains to the Transportation Division of the company.
At 12:30 PM, NCC shares were trading at ₹171.25 apiece on NSE, falling 0.09%.
