Stocks like Lenskart, Groww, among others were in focus of investors during the market session on Monday, August 31, ahead of the global index service provider MSCI’s index addition and exclusion deadline.
Lenskart Solutions, Laurus Labs, Adani Energy Solutions, and Billionbrains Garage Ventures (Groww) are four companies which will be added to the MSCI Global Standard Index after the market closing hours on August 31, 2026.
These stocks will continue to remain in focus, as the index rebalancing move means the stocks will begin trading under the major index from Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The latest index rejig comes after MSCI’s August 2026 review, resulting in the addition of these four stocks while excluding three stocks, namely, Balkrishna Industries, SBI Cards & Payment Services, and Astral Ltd.
MSCI’s additions and exclusions are expected to trigger major buying cues in the market, as exchange-traded funds and passive funds tracking the index will change their allocations to replicate the benchmark, resulting in fund inflows and outflows from the listed companies.
According to a Reuters report citing Nuvama data, the MSCI rejig is expected to bring $598 million inflows into Laurus Labs, $352 million inflows into Lenskart, $310 million inflows into Adani Energy Solutions, and $256 million inflows into Groww.

With the exclusion from MSCI’s index, the stocks are expected to witness massive outflows in the open market, as ETFs and passive funds update their holdings post the rebalancing move.
As per the report, Balkrishna Industries is expected to witness $169 million in outflows, $143 million in outflows from SBI Cards, and $138 million in outflows from Astral Ltd.
MSCI also increased its weightage on other stocks like Eternal, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, JSW Energy, Adani Power, Swiggy, and GMR Airports, after its August 2026 review, while reducing weight on stocks like Reliance Industries, Jio Financial, Indian Hotels, Aditya Birla Capital, and Colgate.
A change in weightage of the stocks listed under the existing MSCI index will also trigger inflows and outflows as the funds balance mirror the changes in their portfolio.
On the small-cap index front, the global index provider, MSCI, will add 12 companies to the MSCI India Domestic Small Cap Index, while removing 19 constituents from the existing list, effective after the stock market close on August 31, 2026.
Similar to the new additions to the global index, the 12 stocks will be trading as small-cap index constituents effective from September 1, 2026.
