Telecom and tech major Jio Platforms shares declined 2.4% intraday during the trading session on Friday, October 30, as equity market investors awaited the recently listed company’s upcoming July to September quarter earnings report for the financial year 2026-27.
NSE data showed that Jio Platforms (JPL) shares lost 2.4% to hit an intraday low of ₹1,386.80 apiece on Friday’s market, in comparison to ₹1,421.60 apiece at the previous equity market close.
As of 11:48 am (IST), JPL shares recovered the majority of their intraday losses, trading around 0.11% lower at ₹1,420 apiece during the market session on October 30.
Trading volumes surpassed 16.7 million equity shares across NSE and BSE combined as per Trendlyne data, indicating elevated interest from investors in the stock, which was listed this week on Wednesday, October 28.
As per the official announcement, Jio Platforms’ board of directors are set to consider and approve the standalone and consolidated unaudited financial results for the July to September quarter of FY27.
The company will potentially announce its Q2 results after market hours on Friday, October 30. After the Q2 update, Jio Platforms will hold an analyst meet, post the Board Meeting, to discuss the financial results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026.
In the Q1 FY27 results, Jio Platforms’ ARPU increased to ₹215.60 levels, supported by the company’s improved subscriber mix and positive seasonality, partly offset by promotional schemes for fixed broadband customers.
In the last quarter under Reliance Industries, the management said that customer engagement for Jio remains strong, with 5G data traffic at nearly 1.5 times that of 4G.
Along with the wireless subscriber base, the telecom company’s total fixed broadband subscriber base growth will also remain in focus in the upcoming Q2 earnings, which will determine the market share in the Wifi business.
Last quarter data showed the total fixed broadband subscriber base stood at 28.6 million as of June 2026, with around 8.6 million additions over the last 12 months.
In Q1 results, the company reported an 11.8% year-on-year (YoY) increase in operating revenue, with profits rising 9.2% in the same period. The last quarter's statements also showed that the EBITDA growth was partially offset by higher finance costs and increased depreciation following the capitalisation of 5G assets.
Key focus will also remain on the margins in the second quarter of FY27, after the EBITDA margins expanded 150 points in the previous quarter of the current fiscal year.
As of the intraday high levels on Friday, October 30, Jio Platforms’ shares have delivered more than 28% returns to IPO investors on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) since its listing earlier this week on Wednesday, October 28.
The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was trading at more than ₹13.08 lakh crore as of the trading session on Friday, with a free-float m-cap of around ₹28,511 crore as per the exchange data.
