Bharat Electronics bags major order worth ₹541 crore; shares down 3% in a month

Shares in focus: Bharat Electronics (BEL) shares will be on the investors’ radar as the company on Monday, August 10, said it has bagged a major order.

In a regulatory filing, the Navratna defence public sector undertaking (PSU) said it has secured an additional order worth ₹541 crore since the last disclosure on July 31, 2026.

The major orders received include communication equipment, electro optics, ammunition fuzes, Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) systems, spares, services etc, BEL said.

On July 31, 2026, the firm had bagged a major additional orders worth ₹847 crore which included electro optics, security operation centre, seekers, components, spares, services and more.

BEL Q1 FY27 results

BEL posted a 9% increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹1,054.34 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, compared year-on-year (YoY) with ₹969.91 crore in the same period a year earlier.

The company’s revenue from core operations surged 25% YoY to ₹5,546.98 crore in the June quarter of the current fiscal year, compared with ₹4,439.74 crore in the same period a year earlier.

As of July 1, 2026, BEL’s order book position stood at ₹72,258 crore.

As per the consolidated financial statements, BEL’s cost of materials surged 55% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹3,041.23 crore in the April-to-June quarter of the financial year 2026-27, from ₹1,960.84 crore in the same period a year earlier.

On a sequential basis, the company’s cost of materials has dropped 58% to its June quarter levels, when compared to ₹4,793.87 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.

Bharat Electronics increased its authorised share capital to ₹1,000 crore subject to the approval of the shareholders, from ₹750 crore levels.

BEL share price trends

On Monday, Bharat Electronics shares closed at ₹404.35 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, rising 0.84%.

From the beginning of the year, BEL shares have climbed 1.4%. Over a month’s time, the stock has slipped 3%, while for a six-month period, it has fallen 8%.

Shares of the firm had hit a 52-week high of ₹473.45 on March 6, 2026, and a 52-week low of ₹361.20 on August 28, 2025.

According to NSE data, as of August 10, 2026, BEL has a total market capitalisation of ₹2.96 lakh crore.
