Aarti Industries, Niva Bupa, Thermax shares spurt amid heavy volumes; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks broke out on the upside in noon deals on Thursday, July 31. The SENSEX rose as much as 462 points from the day's lowest level and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 24,429 after hitting a low of 24,300 led by gains in index heavyweights like Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel and Sun Pharma.

Here are stocks witnessing heavier than usual trading volumes:
Aarti Industries: The country's leading chemicals maker rose as much as 7.6% to hit an intraday high of ₹517 after it reported June quarter earnings.

The company's revenue from operations rose 41% to ₹2,627 crore and its net profit rose by 260% to ₹155 crore.

Trading volume jumped by 29 times on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) to 87.75 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 3.56 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 7.31 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 41,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Thermax: Shares of the heavy electrical equipment maker dropped as much as 16% to hit an intraday low of ₹3,567 after its net profit dropped 83% to ₹25 crore in the first quarter of current financial from ₹152 crore in the same period last year.

Trading volume in the stock jumped by 25 times to 29.86 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 1.2 lakh shares.

On the BSE, 1.33 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 13,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Niva Bupa Health Insurance: Shares of the insurance company advanced as much as 6.1% to ₹91 after its net profit in April-June period advanced 93% to ₹138 crore.

Niva Bupa said that it sustained its healthy growth momentum in the first quarter, reporting Gross Written Premium (GWP) of ₹2,150 crore, up 32%, reflecting the Company’s continued execution on its profitable growth strategy.

Trading volume in the stock jumped 22 times to 1.7 crore shares compared with an average volume of 7.9 lakh shares.

As many as 7.67 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 44,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

AWL Agri Business: Shares of the country's leading edible oil producer rose as much as 6% to hit an intraday high of ₹199 after its net profit rose 47% to ₹351 crore from ₹238 crore.

Trading volume jumped by nine times to 1.08 crore shares compared with an average of 12 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

On the BSE, as many as 9.62 lakh shares changed hands compared with an average of 1.72 lakh shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Hyundai Motor India: Shares of the car maker rose as much as 9.40% to ₹2,208 after its net profit reported a 33.89% decline in standalone profit after tax to ₹883 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, hit by production constraints due to a fire incident at one of its suppliers and decline in exports due to the West Asia war. The company had posted a standalone net profit of ₹1,335.75 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

However, Tarun Garg, the company's Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, assured that Hyundai Motor India is committed to "achieve its stated guidance of 8-10% (YoY) volume growth for both domestic and exports as well as 11-14% EBITDA margin in FY27."

Trading volume jumped by 8.1 times to 41 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 5.78 lakh shares.
