Why are gold and silver prices falling?

Weaker spot demand has weighed on gold, while currency movements, crude oil prices and global market sentiment have also influenced bullion prices. Investors are watching the US Federal Reserve's upcoming policy decision for clues about the interest-rate outlook.

The direction of the US dollar, bond yields and geopolitical developments may also affect precious-metal prices in the coming sessions.

Digital gold gains traction ahead of festive season

Digital gold is also emerging as an option for consumers looking to invest smaller amounts in the yellow metal during the festive season. According to the World Gold Council’s October 2026 India gold market update, digital gold purchases rose 5% month-on-month to 1.7 tonnes in September, while the value of purchases increased 83% year-on-year to ₹25.9 billion.

Should you buy gold or silver after the fall?

Financial planners say that for household budgets and long-term financial planning, a price correction can be an opportunity to review buying plans.

If you are buying jewellery: Compare rates across trusted jewellers and check making charges, wastage policies and the final bill.
If you are buying for the long term: Consider staggered purchases rather than investing the entire planned amount in one transaction.
If you are investing in gold or silver: Account for volatility, investment costs, your time horizon.
