Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures indicate a mixed open ahead of the opening bell on Monday, August 17.
Investing.com data showed that Dow Jones futures were trading 0.33% lower at 53,630 points ahead of the opening bell on Monday’s market, indicating a more than 100-point lower opening on August 17.
The S&P 500 index futures were trading 0.04% higher at 7,807 points ahead of the Wall Street open on August 17, indicating a 20-point higher opening during the trading session on Monday.
The exchange data further showed that Nasdaq futures were trading 0.27% higher at 30,223 points ahead of the market open, indicating a more than 170-point higher open on the US stock market when compared to the previous equity market close.
The US benchmark indices ended lower after their trading session on Friday, as investors booked profits amid mixed economic data releases, which reduced bets on the Federal Reserve increasing interest rates for the US economy in the upcoming September 2026 meeting.
Dow Jones Industrial Average index closed 0.20% lower at 53,732.41 points after the trading session on Friday, in comparison to 53,839.99 points at the previous equity market close, according to MarketWatch data.
The S&P 500 index ended 0.17% lower at 7,785.76 points after the Wall Street close on August 17, compared to 7,798.99 points at the previous stock market close, as per the exchange data.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index closed 0.13% lower at 30,046.14 points after the trading session on Friday last week, compared to 30,084.50 points at the US equity market close.
Key focus of investors will also remain on monitoring the economic data and official releases which are scheduled for this week, as traders will place their bets depending on the outcome of those reports.
Weekly jobless claims, import prices data, industrial production data, and US flash manufacturing PMI data are among the important releases scheduled for this week.
Equity market investors will also await the US Federal Reserve’s minutes of the August 2026 meeting, which is set to be released on Wednesday, August 19, around 2 pm (ET) in the United States.
The minutes of the meeting will give investors further insight into the US Fed’s committee and their stance on the interest rate trajectory for the US economy.
MarketWatch data showed that the South Korea-based KOSPI ended 2.4% higher, Singapore’s FTSE ended 0.4% higher, Japan’s Nikkei 225 ended 0.7% higher, Hong Kong-based Hang Seng gained 1.3%, and Shanghai Composite gained 1.4% on August 17.
