Market holidays 2025: The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, December 13, released a list of market holidays for the upcoming year, 2025. 

The list shows that equity market will be closed for a total of 14 days in 2025. 

The first trading holiday of the year will be February 26, 2025, Wednesday, on account of Mahashivratri.

Meanwhile, benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended sharply higher on Friday amid heavy buying in telecommunication stocks and encouraging domestic inflation data.

Government data showed that November CPI inflation moderated to 5.48%, down from 6.21% in October, according to the government data released on Thursday. The inflation rate for rural areas was recorded at 5.95%, while urban areas saw a lower rate of 4.83% in November.

After falling 1,207.14 points in morning trade, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex recovered all the lost ground later and jumped 843.16 points, or 1.04%, to settle at 82,133.12. During the day, it surged 923.96 points, or 1.13%, to 82,213.92.

The NSE Nifty climbed 219.60 points, or 0.89%, to settle at 24,768.30 after falling 367.9 points in intraday trade.

Among the 30-share Sensex blue-chip pack, Bharti Airtel, ITC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Titan, UltraTech Cement, HCL Technologies, and Power Grid were the biggest gainers.
Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, JSW Steel, and Bajaj Finserv were the laggards.

In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index ended at 47,776.62, down 39.26 points, or 0.08%, while the BSE SmallCap index settled at 56,957.46, down 167.68 points, or 0.29%.
