Wipro shares gain 2% as its global tech management consultancy arm gets new CEO

Wipro shares gain 2% as its global tech management consultancy arm gets new CEO

Wipro Ltd shares gained more than 2% on Thursday after the company announced the appointment of Anne-Marie Rowland as the new Chief Executive Officer of Capco.

Wipro announced post market hours on Wednesday that Anne-Marie (Annie) Rowland has been appointed as the CEO of Capco, commencing the role from April 1, 2024. She currently serves as the Managing Partner of Capco’s business in the United Kingdom and Ireland, along with being a member of Capco’s Global Leadership Team.

Capco is the global technology management consultancy arm of Wipro.

Once taking on the CEO role, Rowland will report to the CEO and Managing Director of Wipro, Thierry Delaporte, while also becoming a member of Wipro’s Executive Committee (WEC), the Indian IT giant informed the bourses.

On the other hand, the current CEO of Capco, Lance Levy will embark on a new role of Strategic Advisor and support the strategic direction of the company, along with Wipro’s overall consulting strategy. Levy has led Capco for close to a decade.

Anne-Marie Rowland has been with Capco since 14 years, and has played a major role in the company’s business growth through a series of executive roles, while serving as a Global Head of Capco’s Consulting and Transformation practice, and Global Client Partner for a number of large financial institutions, among others, Wipro stated in a press release.

Capco was acquired by Wipro in 2021, and has been a client advisor and industry player for more than 25 years, now serving as the world’s largest, independent, financial services management consultancy.

“I am delighted about the opportunity to lead Capco into the next phase of its journey. Together, Capco and Wipro are a winning combination that delivers the deep expertise, focus and scale required to ensure our clients’ future success,” said Rowland on March 20, 2024.

Shares of Wipro were trading 2% higher at ₹503.3 per piece on the NSE at12:03 pm.
