Waaree Energies, NTPC Green, Premier Energies: How renewable energy stocks are performing on June 18

Renewable energy stocks, including Waaree Energies, NTPC Green and Premier Energies, were trading lower on Wednesday, June 18.

This comes at a time when a US Senate panel proposed ending solar and wind tax credits by 2028. As per the draft bill, the solar and wind incentives will be cut to 60% of their value in 2026 and will be phased out by 2028. The draft bill amends Donald Trump's 'One Big, Beautiful Bill Act' that was passed last month.

Shares of Waaree Energies, which also exports solar modules, were down 2.38% to ₹2,724 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at 9:28 am.

NTPC Green Energy shares were down 0.16% to ₹107.05 per unit on the NSE, while Adani Green Energy shares are trading 0.05% lower at ₹977.

Premier Energies stock fell 0.11% to ₹1,004 per share.

Suzlon Energy shares were trading at ₹64.43 per unit, reflecting a decline of 0.14% on the NSE. Its market capitalisation stands at ₹88,197.11 crore, while free float m-cap is ₹76,574.38 crore.

After a gap-down opening, NIFTY50 was trading 0.32% higher at 24,932 and SENSEX was up 213 points to 81,796.

IndusInd Bank, Eicher Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Trent, Shriram Finance, Hero MotoCorp, Eternal, Hindalco, UltraTech Cement, and Bajaj Finance were the top NIFTY50 gainers.

Kotak Mahindra Bank, Power Grid, HDFC Life, Adani Ports, NTPC, JSW Steel, Nestle India, SBL Life and HDFC Bank were among the laggards.

On Tuesday, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities valued at ₹1,482.77 crore, as per the exchange data. Domestic Institutional Investors, or DIIs, also purchased equities aggregating to ₹8,207.19 crore in the previous trade.

In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's Kospi index advanced, while Shanghai's SSE Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index slid.

US markets settled lower on Tuesday.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude ascended 0.44% to USD 76.79 a barrel.
