Top gainers, losers on September 19: NTPC Titan, Nestle India lead NIFTY50 gains; check the full list

NIFTY, SENSEX hit record highs amid strong global cues: Check top gainers and losers

Indian benchmark indices closed flat on Thursday, September 19, after hitting record highs in intraday trade amid positive global cues following the US Fed rate cut by 50 basis points.

Benchmark NIFTY50 settled at 25,415, up 38 points or 0.15%. The key index scaled a fresh record high of 25,611 in intraday trade. BSE SENSEX gained 236 points, or 0.29%, to close at 83,184. The index hit a new high of 83,773 in intraday trade.

Among the sectoral indices, NIFTY FMCG and NIFTY Bank were the top gainers as they closed higher by 0.56% and 0.54%, respectively. On the other hand, NIFTY Media and NIFTY Oil & Gas closed in the red. NIFTY IT index closed 0.34% lower today.

Out of the 50 NIFTY constituents, 20 closed in negative territory, dragged by BPCL, Coal India, and ONGC.

NTPC and Titan lead top NIFTY gainers

State-owned NTPC Ltd shares surged the most among NIFTY constituents. The PSU stock settled 2.38% higher at ₹424 apiece after touching a record high of ₹431.85 apiece intraday on the NSE. The stock gained after company’s renewable energy arm, NTPC Green Energy filed draft papers for its public issue.

Tata Group company Titan shares traded higher by over 1% to hit an intraday high of ₹3,795 apiece. The stock settled 1.82% higher at ₹3,793 apiece.

Shares of FMCG major Nestle India gained over 3% to hit a high of ₹2,677 apiece on the NSE. The stock closed higher by 1.77% at ₹2,643 apiece.

Private sector lender Kotak Mahindra Bank shares surged nearly 2% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,875 apiece. The stock closed 1.76% higher at ₹1,872 apiece on the NSE.

Shares of Tata Consumer gained by over 2% to trade at an intraday high of ₹1225.6 apiece before closing at ₹1,216 apiece, up by 1.26%, on the NSE.

Among other NIFTY constituents, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Airtel and Maruti closed higher by up to 1.13% on September 19.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Coal India emerge as top losers

Shares of state owned oil marketing company Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited declined the most among constituents of the NIFTY. The stock dipped nearly 4% to hit a low of ₹322.95 apiece. The company’s stock closed at ₹324.65 apiece, down by 3.41%.

Coal India shares fell nearly 2% to hit an intraday low of ₹476.25 per share. The stock closed lower by 1.52% at ₹479.7 apiece on the NSE.

Shares of ONGC closed lower by 1.34% at ₹286.5 apiece and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone shares dropped 1.25% to ₹1,410.9 apiece. Shriram Finance’s stock also tanked 1.25% to ₹3,530 apiece at the close.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro, HCL Technologies and Tata Consultancy Services also emerged as losers among other NIFTY constituents declining up to 1.11%.
