The Indian equity benchmarks fell for a second straight session on Tuesday, October 14, mirroring losses in global markets on renewed trade tensions between US and China.
The SENSEX fell as much as 545 points and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday low of 25,060 dragged down by losses in index heavyweights like Tata Motors, Bajaj Finance, Tata Consultancy Services, Axis Bank and Larsen & Toubro.
The benchmarks recovered their losses partially in the second half of session and the SENSEX ended 297 points lower at 82,030 and NIFTY50 index declined 82 points to close at 25,145.50.
Dr Reddy's Labs was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 2.17% to close at ₹1,235. Tata Steel (-2.14%), Bajaj Finance (-1.90%), Bharat Electronics (-1.77%) and Trent (-1.66%) were also among the losers.
On the other hand, Max Healthcare was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 1.42% to close at ₹1,159. Tech Mahindra (1.24%), Wipro (1.09%), Apollo Hospitals (1.06%) and ICICI Bank (0.39%) were also among the gainers.
NIFTY Midcap 100 index dropped 0.75% or 438 points to close at 58,324. As many as 78 shares ended lower while 22 closed higher.
Vodafone Idea was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock fell 4.24% to close at ₹8.36 as the Supreme Court again deferred the AGR case hearing on Monday, August 13.
The Supreme Court will hear a plea from a debt-laden company seeking to quash the additional adjusted gross revenue (AGR) demands on October 27, after Diwali. The court also directed the government to take a clear position in the case.
Vodafone Idea has filed the fresh plea against the Department of Telecommunications' (DoT) fresh demand of ₹5,606 crore relating to the financial year 2016-17. Earlier, the Centre had said efforts were on to arrive at a resolution with the company.
Dixon Technologies (-3.4%), SAIL (-3.25%), Bharti Hexacom (-3.06%) and Indus Towers (-3.06%) were also among the losers.
On the flipside, Tata Communications was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 4.55% to close at ₹1,880. Sona Comstar (4.06%), IREDA (2.95%), Premiere Energies (2.52%) and Waaree Energies (2.51%) were also among the gainers.
Nifty Smallcap 100 index declined 0.89% or 162 points to close at 17,940. As many as 86 shares ended lower while 13 closed higher.
Deepak Fertilisers was top loser in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock fell 4.53% to close at ₹1,417. Anant Raj (-4.11%), Sagility (-4.06%), Jyoti CNC (-3.95%) and Bandhan Bank (-3.46%) were also among the losers.
On the contrary, Anand Rathi Wealth was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 7.33% to close at ₹3,150, a day after it reported its results for the second quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q2FY26).
The wealth management company reported a 30.53% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated net profit to ₹99 crore for the September quarter of FY26, compared to ₹76 crore it clocked in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
Anand Rathi Wealth’s revenue from operations jumped as much as 22.6% YoY to ₹297.36 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹242.48 crore in the second quarter of FY25.
During the first half of FY26, PAT rose 29% YoY to ₹194 crore, and revenue grew 19% YoY to ₹591 crore. In the first half of FY26, the company has already achieved more than 50% of its full-year revenue and PAT guidance, the firm said in a regulatory filing dated Monday.
MCX (5.08%), Angel One (2.03%), Navin Fluorine (2.02%) and Data Patterns (1.57%) were also among the gainers.
