The Indian equity benchmarks staged a strong rebound in afternoon trading to snap their three-day losing streak of Thursday, August 7. The SENSEX recovered as much as 926 points from the day's lowest level and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 24,634 after hitting a low of 24,344. The sharp recovery in Indian equities emerged after reports suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump could hold a bilateral meet. Giving a strong reason to investors globally to rejoice on hopes that Trump's tariff war could ease.
The SENSEX ended 79 points higher at 80,623 and NIFTY50 index advanced 22 points to 24,596.

The company on Wednesday reported a flat standalone net profit growth at ₹1,126 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025 (Q1 FY26), as compared to ₹1,123 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Tech Mahindra (1.99%), JSW Steel (1.94%), Eternal (1.46%) and Wipro (1.18%) were also among the gainers.
On the flipside, Adani Enterprises (-2.36%), Adani Ports (-1.43%), Grasim Industries (-0.86%), Hindustan Unilever (-0.77%) and Trent (-0.76%).
NIFTY Midcap 100 index advanced 0.33% or 189 points to close at 56,938. As many as 57 shares in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index ended higher while 43 closed lower.
Lupin was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 4.62% to close at ₹1,937 after its net profit rose 52% to ₹122 crore in first quarter of current financial year from ₹81 crore in the year-ago period.
Coforge (4.13%), Torrent Power (2.96%), PB Fintech (2.93%) and Persistent Systems (2.73%) were also among the gainers.
On the other hand, BHEL (-4.86%), Bharti Hexacaom (-2.81%), Indus Towers (-2.04%), SRF (-1.88%) and MRF (-1.63%) were among losers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 index advanced 0.17% or 30 points to close at 17,693. As many as 53 shares in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index ended higher.
As part of the pilot project, the company will collect and analyse multi-source data like traffic flow data, driver performance, road infrastructure at the point of accident, environmental data, and accident reports during a six‑week prototype phase.
Firstsource Solutions (5.86%), NCC (4.29%), RK Forgings (4.18%) and Piramal Pharma (3.42%) were also among the gainers.
On the contrary, Godfrey Philips (-7.96%), Reliance Power (-5.01%), Newgen Software (-3.13%), Navin Fluorine (-2.86%) and IGIL (-2.20%) were among losers in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index.
