SUMMARY
Cipla shares gained the most among the NIFTY constituents. The pharma stock closed at ₹1,654.6 apiece, up by 2.23%. Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra and Divis Laboratories emerged as the major NIFTY gainers, while Tata Motors and HDFC Bank were the top losers.
Top Gainers and losers on August 30: Cipla, Bajaj Finance and M&M top NIFTY movers
In the last trading session of the month, benchmark indices closed at record highs amid heavy buying across sectors. NIFTY extended its gains for the 12th straight day, marking its longest-ever winning streak, while SENSEX also sustained the rally for the 9th day.
NIFTY50 settled at 25,235 up, by 83.95 points, or 0.33%, on Friday, August 30. The benchmark index scaled an intraday high of 25,268. BSE SENSEX gained 231.16 points, or 0.28%, to settle at 82,365. The index hit a high of 82,637 in intraday trade.
Among the sectoral indices, NIFTY Realty and NIFTY Pharma were the top gainers, closing higher at 1.83% and 1.48%, respectively. On the other hand, NIFTY FMCG and NIFTY Media closed in the red.
Out of the 50 constituents of the benchmark NIFTY index, 9 closed in the red, dragged by Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Tech Mahindra.
Among other NIFTY constituents, Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Finserv and Power Grid Corporation of India closed higher by up to 1.72% on August 30.
ITC, HCL Technologies and Hindustan Unilever shares also emerged as losers among constituents of the NIFTY index, trading lower by up to 0.22%.
