SUMMARY
The NIFTY50 pack was led by buying in the shares of Infosys, which closed 3.57% higher, followed by gains in HCL Tech, TCS, Shriram Finance, and more.

During the day, NIFTY50 and SENSEX touched their one-year highs of 26,104.20 and 85,290.06, respectively.
The SENSEX closed 130.06 points, or 0.15%, higher at 84,556.40. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 gained 22.80 points, or 0.09%, to end at 25,891.40.
The NIFTY50 pack was led by buying in the shares of Infosys, which closed 3.57% higher at ₹1,525 apiece, as the IT services firm’s promoters and promoter group, including Nandan M Nilekani and Sudha Murty, have decided not to participate in the company's ₹18,000 crore share buyback.
It was followed by HCL Technologies (2.62%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.11%), Shriram Finance (1.98%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.56%), and Axis Bank (1.32%), which were among the top gainers.
On the contrary, Eternal Ltd closed in the red at ₹328 per equity share (-2.99%). The other top losers included InterGlobe Aviation (-2.09%), UltraTech Cement (-1.86%), Eicher Motors (-1.77%), and Bharti Airtel (-1.64%).
NSE’s midcap index, the NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge, closed in the negative territory at 59,371.25, falling 38.30 points or 0.06%.
The index was weighed down by selling in Godfrey Phillips India (-6.77%), Fortis Healthcare (-4.46%), Tata Communications (-3.29%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (-3.21%), and Muthoot Finance (-2.95%), which were the top laggards.
On the other hand, the top winners were led by Vodafone Idea (5.44%), Bharat Forge (4.23%), Bank of India (3.85%), Indraprastha Gas (3.37%), and Sona BLW Precision Forgings (3.30%).

Poonawalla Fincorp dragged the index down, slumping 5.37%. Hindustan Copper (-4.75%), Anand Rathi Wealth (-3.45%), HBL Engineering (-3.08%), and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (-2.99%) were among the top five losers on October 23.
Conversely, Indian Energy Exchange (4.07%), Capri Global Capital (3.52%), Aditya Birla Real Estate (3.40%), Sagility (3.35%), and Piramal Pharma (3%) were among the top winners.
