Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, rebounded on Wednesday, November 26, mirroring gains in global markets on rising expectations of a rate cut by the US Federal Reserve in December. The Indian indices posted their best day in over five months.

US economic data released on Tuesday had investors betting on a nearly 85% probability that the Federal Reserve will opt for a rate cut in December, according to the CME Group's FedWatch.

The SENSEX surged 1,022.50 points or 1.21% to close at 85,609.51, while the 50-share NIFTY edged up by 20.50 points or 1.24% to 25,205.30.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

The 50-share NIFTY index was bolstered by gains in the stock of JSW Steel Enterprises, which closed 3.69% higher.

It was followed by Bajaj Finserv (2.68%), HDFC Life Insurance Company (2.80%), Bajaj Finance (2.51%), and Jio Financial Services (2.39%), which were among the top gainers on November 26.

On the other hand, the top losers pack was led by Bharti Airtel, which slipped 1.62%, after ICIL sold 3.43 crore equity shares, or 0.56% stake, in the telco for approximately ₹7,190 crore ( or $806 million).

Adani Enterprises (-0.85%), Eicher Motors (-0.53%), SBI Life Insurance Company (-0.20%), and State Bank of India (-0.04%) trailed behind Bharti Airtel.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s midcap gauge, the NIFTY Midcap 100, rose 1.27% or 763.70 points to 61,061.70 on Wednesday. The index was supported by One 97 Communications, which closed 3.75% higher.

It was followed by Housing & Urban Development Corporation (3.75%), L&T Finance (3.68%), Steel Authority of India (3.54%), and Kalyan Jewellers India (3.20%), which were among the top winners.

On the flipside, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services slumped 2.59%. The top laggards included FSN E-Commerce Ventures (-2.20%), Swiggy (-0.86%), NTPC Green Energy (-0.42%), and MRF (-0.36%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 ended at 17,971.85, up 241.55 points or 1.36% on November 26. It was held up by buying in Natco Pharma (10.80%), Reliance Power (6.40%), PG Electroplast (6.25%), Nuvama Wealth Management (4.60%), and Multi Commodity Exchange of India (4.49%).

On the contrary, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (-3.43%), Neuland Laboratories (-1.45%), CreditAccess Grameen (-1.31%), Swan Corp (-1.25%), and Dr. Lal Path Labs (-1.25%) were among the top losers.
