Top gainers and losers, July 22: IndiGo falls over 3%, Dr. Reddy’s down 2%, Bajaj Auto soars 6%; check list

Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, closed in the negative territory on Wednesday, July 22, as escalating tensions in West Asia, along with a surge in global crude oil prices, soured investment sentiment.

The sentiment also remained subdued as US President Donald Trump proposed phased tariffs of up to 200% on generic drug imports into the United States following a two-year tariff-free period.

The SENSEX plunged as much as 1.33% to hit an intraday low of 76,641.19. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 tanked as much as 1.22% to touch the session’s low of 23,961.40.

On July 22, the SENSEX declined by 715.06 points or 0.92% to close at 76,755.05. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 fell by 191.45 points or 0.75% to end at 23,996.25.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, dragged the NIFTY50 index, closing 3.58% lower.

It was followed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (-2.16%), Jio Financial Services (-2.14%), Infosys (-2%) and Axis Bank (-1.96%), which were among the top losers on Wednesday.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories shares declined, along with the stock of other pharmaceutical companies, after US President Donald Trump proposed tariffs of up to 200% on generic drug imports into the United States following a two-year tariff-free period.

On the other hand, only 10 out of the 50 constituents on the index advanced.

The top gainers included Bajaj Auto (5.92%), Nestle India (3.31%), Tata Consumer Products (1.43%), Eternal (1.01%) and Power Grid Corporation of India (0.80%).

Shares of Bajaj Auto hit a 52-week high on July 22, as the automobile manufacturer posted a healthy increase in quarterly earnings performance on strong sales growth. NSE data showed that Bajaj Auto’s consolidated net profit surged 46% to ₹3,225.63 crore in the April to June quarter of the financial year ending 2026-27, compared year-on-year (YoY) with ₹2,210.44 crore in the same period a year ago.

The stock of Nestle India also hit its year’s high after announcing a 47.92% YoY increase in its standalone net profit to ₹975.12 crore during the quarter under review, compared with ₹659.23 crore in the first quarter of FY26.

NIFTY Midcap 100 top gainers and losers

NSE’s NIFTY Midcap 100 gauge fell by 1.09% or 687 points to end at 62,300.60 on July 22.

The index was weighed down by selling in Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS), which lost 7.35%.

The other laggards were MphasiS (-4.43%), Lupin (-4.35%), SRF (-4.12%) and Godrej Properties (-4.03%).

On the flip side, the top winners included Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (7.60%), as investors focused on the non-banking financial company’s (NBFC) healthy Q1 earnings performance.

It was followed by Kalyan Jewellers India (7.60%), Polycab India (1.90%), Lenskart Solutions (1.81%) and Radico Khaitan (1.56%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers

The NIFTY Smallcap 100 index declined by 1.54% or 298.80 points to close at 19,129.25.

Its top losers included Bandhan Bank, which ended 16.63% lower, as stock market investors focused on the company management’s conservative guidance and margin concerns despite registering healthy growth in the April to June quarter earnings for the fiscal year 2026-27.

PG Electroplast (-5.76%), Ola Electric Mobility (-5.48%), Himadri Speciality Chemical (-4.36%) and Brigade Enterprises (-4.26%) were among the other top losers.

On the contrary, its top gainers were Data Patterns (India) (11.85%), Aegis Logistics (2.93%), Poonawalla Fincorp (1.85%), the Great Eastern Shipping Company (1.58%) and Anant Raj (1.16%) were the top gainers.
