Top gainers and losers in Muhurat trading session: Cipla, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv rise over 0.7% in Diwali session

The Indian equity benchmarks closed at fresh 52-week highs in special Muhurat trading session to mark the festival of Diwali on Tuesday, October 21. The SENSEX and NIFTY50 indices rose for a fifth straight session on Diwali led by gains in index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, Infosys, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv and Larsen & Toubro. The SENSEX rose as much as 302 points to hit 52-week high of 84,665 and NIFTY50 surged to its one year high of 25,934.35.

In the last five trading sessions the SENSEX has climbed 2.92% and NIFTY50 index has soared 2.88%.

The SENSEX ended 63 points higher at 84,426 and NIFTY50 index advanced 25 points to close at 25,869.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

In the NIFTY50 index 24 stocks ended higher while 25 closed lower. Cipla was top gainer in the NIFTY50 index, the stock rose 1.58% to close at ₹1,665. Bajaj Finserv (1.18%), Infosys (0.7%), JSW Steel (0.68%) and Grasim (0.67%) were also among the gainers.

On the flipside, Kotak Mahindra Bank was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock fell 0.98% to close at ₹2,192. ICICI Bank (-0.65%), Asian Paints (-0.64%), Ultratech Cement (-0.61%) and HCL Technologies (-0.6%) were also among the losers.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index rose 0.11% or 65 points to close at 59,410. As many as 51 shares ended lower while 48 closed higher.

Swiggy was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 2.695 to settle at ₹433, the stock came under buying interest on hopes of higher ordering on account of Diwali. ITC Hotels (2.43%), Suzlon (2.03%), Indus Towers (1.55%) and M&M Financial Services (1.4%) were also among the gainers.

On the other hand, Muthoot Finance (-1.45%), SRF (-1.2%), Bharat Forge (-1%), Polycab (-0.97%) and 360 One Wam (-0.95%) were losers in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index outperformed its larger peers as the index rose 0.52% or 95 points to close at 18,300.65. As many as 76 shares ended higher while 24 closed lower.

Nuvama Wealth Management was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index, the stock rose 3.28% to close at ₹7,250. Jindal SAW (2.47%), Wockhardt (2.39%), Data Patterns (2.11%) and Triveni Turbine (2.10%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, Ola Electric dropped 2.75% to close at ₹53 after reports suggested that a case of abetment to suicide was filed against Ola Electric's CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and a senior officer of the company in Bengaluru on Monday.

Neuland Labs (-1.42%), MRPL (-1.07%), Anand Rathi Wealth (-0.85%) and NBCC (-0.78%) were also among the laggards in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index.
